My Initial Hope for an Undefeated Season is GONE!
GET OVER IT!!!
I remember a poster saying getting a 40 burger put on us would be good for the team to use as incentive. He damn near got his wish! I hate that, but you know he may be right. The problem that I saw, as I left the sports bar at 0-17, was a kind of limited team unity and some players starting to get off focus.
The hike hitting Tannehill in the shoulder is a perfect example of what I saw happening piecemeal on the field by both the offense and the defense. The center must have been thinking of what he was going to do after the snap and assumed the actual snap would be "as per usual". RONG!!! Tannehill was still looking around the offensive setup instead of focusing on receiving the snap. RONG!!!
NOW WHAT WILL WE DO?
I AM SO GLAD YOU ASKED!
I like to think this kind of EMBARRESING game will cause the players to re-focus on what they should be doing during a game and not let the moment get the better of them. Maybe they'll take a pass on social media when it turns on them next week. This isn't college. GROW UP.
It has taken the Patriots 2 games to recover from their doldrums, I would like to see us recover prior to our next game.
Since my utopian goal for an undefeated season has been trashed, I want to establish another goal. Any time we lose a game we follow it up with two back to back winning games - minimum. This should at least get us to an 11-5 season.
A lot of our players have just had their first "bad day" this year. Unfortunately, it was all in the same game. Maybe that's better then them having their bad games strung out in an unpredictable fashion as to where or when. I can't imagine anything else that could possibly be a better teaching experience about the necessity of their playing as a team, except possibly for this coming week, where they will experience what I believe will be truly "insightful" learning sessions from our coaching staff.
There, that's better.
My sorrow from today's game is now gone and my normal reasonable level of Dolphins optimism is back.
