This mock will go quickly out of fashion when we handle some of our needs via free agency, but until then.. This is basically just excuse to discuss a number of players at different levels in the draft that I like.. I attached one video to each prospect so you can have a look at them yourselves if you haven’t before, or just want something to do on a Saturday night.
(1) OT Zack Martin, Notre Dame
Need forces our hand a bit here, though I do consider Martin a top-25 prospect so it's not really that much of a reach. Martin's best attributes is his versatility, precise technique and durability. He's started 50+ games at Notre Dame, all at LT - but his high-end technique lends itself to position versatility, so I could see this guy slotting in at LG, LT or RT... Either way, I see a good LT here - potentially very good. Starts day one for us, gives us a dependable leader in the locker room (yeah, I hate how that has to factor in our draft now) and provides excellent value for the pick.

(2) DT Will Sutton, ASU
In the absence of Soliai and Starks, we need to pick up a DT to pair with Odrick and Francis. Luckily, need marries BPA here as we pick up one of the most destructive DT's in college football here... At least from 2012. Sutton ballooned a bit in his Senior year (2013) and with it lost much of his agility and effectiveness. Put on the 2012 tape though and see some stellar play and freakish passrush ability that you can't help but be excited about... Expect him to show much of that same ability now that he's shedding that weight (@tonypauline - "Will Sutton/DT/Arizona State weighs in at 297lbs at pro-day...down 6lbs from combine, down 18lbs from Senior Bowl..." // “Told Will Sutton looked terrific in drills during pro-day at his reduced weight..."). This would be a great pickup for Miami.

Immense tackle prospect, still a bit raw but when you watch him move on the second level it can be devastating. Fits our scheme very well and should fit in at RT for us. Impressed at the senior bowl so his stock is on the rise, might not be there by our pick in the third round - but his relative rawness might see his way to us. He would add a lot of athleticism to that right side when he's ready to step in, good future pick here.

(4) RB Terrance West, Towson
One of my favourite backs in the draft, at least value-wise. Shows good lateral quickness (ideal for ZBS), and is decisive with his cuts.. Good enough burst to get through holes and power that our backfield sorely misses. Not a bruiser by any stretch, but will lower the helmet and carry tacklers often. Decent pass protection, definitely enough to work with - and catches well too. Plays in a small school so this lowers his stock but I think this kid has it all and will get better at the next level... Very well-rounded. Splits carries with Miller day one, IMO.

(5) OG Dakota Dozier, Furman
Solid small school prospect, doesn't fit OT in the pros (his college position).. Just doesn't have the feet or balance for it. I like him as a pulling guard in our scheme though, anchors pretty well and shows good strength. Like him a lot in the fifth round, hopefully he's still on the board.

(6) FS Avery Patterson, Oregon
Biggest thing against Patterson are his measurables - 5'9, 190lbs. Small safety is usually a big no no, but Patterson is definitely a great example of a player playing above his weight. Tackles very well, maybe lowers the shoulder one time too much, but always makes very solid contact. Excellent at diagnosing plays and has great ball skills too. His straight line speed isn't fantastic, but I think he has the necessary hip-movement and quickness to play FS at the next level.. This is a developmental pick, similar to Reshad Jones, but I reckon this is one to keep an eye on..

(7) LB Eddie Lackey, Baylor
CK turned me onto this one, and often I'm sceptical of his 'unknowns' but I like this one. Excellent acceleration for a LB, plays coverage well and reads plays well enough.. Gets fooled on keepers and such, so I'm not totally sold on his instincts. Good prospect for the 7th round, definitely offers special teams value and if our coaches can build on that athleticism there might be something there...
