1. C. Barwin, OLB – Combine him with the addition of Wake and all of a sudden we have some passrush ability to help Porter out. Barwin tallied 10 sacks and 12 TFL his senior season. The only concern I have with him is his lack of experience as he really didn’t play much before his senior year.

2a. Clint Sintim, LB – Sintim adds another guy to the lineup that can rush the passer. The reason I am interested in Sintim is because he can add the demention or should I say the ability to rush the passer from the inside LB position, something we have sorely lacked for years. On a side note, I am a big fan of players that are productive on the field vs. the non-productive athletes that raise their value after the season is over with their workouts. Sintim was a solid late 1st rounder at the end of the season but he has fallen down some peoples boards based on what has happened "after" the season finished.

2b. J Byrd, CB – Byrd is a first team All-PAC 10 selectee and it was well deserved. Byrd registered 5 picks(including the bowl game pick), 14 defended passes and 78 tackles. For his career he logged 197 tackles, 3 FF and 17 picks (STATs taken from ESPN website). Byrd also played well against top competition as he had 9 tackles and a pick against USC.

3. Dorell Scott, DT – Originally had Hill here but after listening to some of our fellow FinsFan I have changed the pick to Scott. I have to agree with most that Scott is a little less of a reach at this point.

4. Tyronne Green, OL – We showed interest in Green early. Really don’t have much to say about him other then I think he could be a starter for us if either Thomas or Smiley can’t go.

5. Don Carey, CB – another CB to add competition to the guys we already have. The Fins have showed an awful lot of interest in this guy. Carey Could be this years D. Bess only we actually draft him instead of signing him as a priority undrafted FA.

6. Brandon Tate, WR – We need to address the WR position and ideally I would like to have taken a WR before now but I just don’t see that happening with the TRIO choosing to focus on shoring up the defense. Tate, I think, is going to fall way down the board because he has not been able to workout for anyone. IMO, the lack of workouts and the possibility that he may not be ready to go right away is going to make teams shy away. Tate at this point of the draft is a steal. Keep in mind that he was out performing Nicks until he sustained his injury.

7a. Tony Fiammetta, FB – Great run blocker…

7b. Mark Parson, CB – I suspect some teams will shy away from him due to his size. The guy however, is just a ball player and when I was making this mock draft out I listed him as the 5th round pick.

when it is all said and done I think we I need to drop one of the guys listed and add another OL as we have zero depth there... going to have to think about that for a bit....

It did me along time ago...his stats at the combine and pro-day just cemented the deal

is that who you think we should target fishy???

Yeah the Kid looks good

But still there not enough History for me...
(1 year on defense)
What happen when you RUN right at C.Barwin
Roth was so strong against the RUN Last Season.

Barwin is giving up about 20-25 pound on the edge
IMO Barwin fix a 4-3 better....

By the Way
I'm look for highlight of Eddie moore ,Eric Ku

Run Defense: He needs to continue working on his hand usage at the point of attack, but he does a nice job of locking on and shedding the lead blocker when playing the ball in his area. He has above-average balance needed to make plays in pursuit, showing good knee bend. He will get covered up and contained by bigger blockers when he runs right into the pile, but while he is still a work in progress as a stack-&-shed type, he does a very good job of stringing out plays and playing off blocks on the move. He makes quite a few plays in pursuit and shows the hand strength to shed and make plays while defending the tight end's low blocks. He has very good balance, but must continue to be active with his hands in order to wear down blockers. For a player his size, Barwin has shown very good strength taking on blockers in 2008. He might lack the "sand in his pants" that you look for in a defensive end, but coming off the edge, he has shown steady strides in holding his ground at the point of attack. Still, he is best when making plays on the move. GRADE: 7.8.

When you watch that video...you can see he holds up well against the run...now imagine with a year under Parcells and co...how he'll be.

I don't see us going LB/LB with our first 2 picks. I think it would be more realistic to go CB/CB with the first 2. Other than that, I like it. I don't know if Tate will be around in round 6, if he is that could be a steal.

I think rd1 is the only way we get this guy. He will be gone by the time we pick in rd.2. I like the kid. Just dont want to see the pats get him.
