Manning may have something left in the tank and he would be a definite upgrade at the positon. But he is going to be coming here and by the time the season starts he will be pushing 37 yrs old. On top of that he is coming off a major neck injury. Couple that with the fact that he is going to want major sums of cap space, that is my main objection with him coming to the organization.

If he were to come here and play for a reasonable amount of money, that would be one thing. But you know he is going to want , at least, 9-10 mil./year. I think we would be better off riding Moore and grooming a young QB behind him.

For me, the only objection is his injury.. if he is healthy then we must get him.

I'm willing to roll the dice with him, even if he plays for one season, Miami becomes an instant superbowl contender.

QBs like Peyton Manning don't come cheap. If healthy, he is worth every bit of $10 million a season

We've been missing out on a QB since ohhh I dunno 99, and we've missed a guy by the name of Brees. When is the last time we won a Superbowl, a playoff game? Man, if Peyton only had 2 years left in him, I would take those 2 years in a heartbeat so we can have that feeling of winning and popularity again. He would make us as great at the QB position that you'll be able to find. At first, I didn't want to consider Peyton, I even voted "HELL NO!" in the poll, but now that I reflect, I want this to happen. Sure, it may cost a price to sign him, but GREAT quarterbacks aren't CHEAP.Some people act like he is GUARANTEED to get hurt again, how do we know? Henne got hurt this year, so anything is bound to happen, I know one thing I'd rather it have been Manning taking snaps under center than Henne though regardless of injury. These doctors aren't stupid, so I'm sure if they believe Manning is ready to go, and Manning believe he is which I saw a quote that he was, then lets get him. This isn't Sabans or Camerons staff here, so I trust them to the full extent.

What's Peyton's playoff record?

Tell me, do you think he would have a better record in the playoffs playing for the colts or Patriots? The talent that has been on that team (especially the defense) has been horrid. Everyone knows he is going to throw the ball because he always knew that his defense wasn't the best. The year the colts defense actually showed up in the playoffs they ended up winning it all. Here's a fun fact, in the years that the Patriots won their Super Bowls their defense only gave up 13.5 points a game and averaged 3 turnovers a game. In the playoffs...

The dolphins may not have a defense like the Patriots did in their dynasty years but it is certainly better than what the colts have ever had. If a healthy Manning comes to Miami, we would be instant contenders.

Honestly.. If healthy I would take the chance on Manning only if we can get another young QB to groom behind him.. I really like Moore but he is not the future of this team unless he plays out of his mind to keep the starting job.. And I mean plays consistently well.. Not flashes and then has a three game skid.. But like I said Manning would be cool at the right price.. But my gut feeling tells me that Flynn will be coming here just from connecting the dots with him and Philbin.. So if its Manning, Flynn, RG3 or even Moore ( provided he plays consistent.. Doesn't have to be elite.. Just consistently good.. ) I would be fine with that.

If he's healthy, you bring him here. Even if he costs so much that he's the only upgrade we make in free agency, you bring him in. He's getting up there in age, but he hadn't missed a start in 13 years and showed no signs of slowing down until this neck injury business. Bring him in, draft a QB early, maybe with our 2nd to take over the reigns down the road.

The only option that I would be ok with if we decided to go that way instead, is signing Matt Flynn. It's up to Philbin. If Coach wants to bring Flynn in, because he thinks we can get to the Super Bowl with Flynn, then let's bring him in. And I don't mean he's a QB that can get us there, I mean if Philbin thinks that the Dolphins can get to the Super Bowl BECAUSE of Flynn, then you bring him in instead of Manning.

Agreed.. Manning or Flynn

a)he may be pushing 37 but hes had a year off from the wear and tear of football. so lets call it 36, besides didnt you hear 40 is the new 30
b) if he is medically cleared to be an nfl player , his neck wont be an issue. his family wont let him jeopardize his life.
c) nobody knows what manning will want pay wise. give him a performance contract. if he breaks our bank that means good news for our team, so its worth it.

Exactly!!! Performance based contract that will not kill us if he gets hurt.. And if he stays healthy and plays great then he is well worth the money.. Manning has plenty left in the tank ( I would say atleast 3 yrs on a good team with a good defense and oline to keep him clean and not take a beating ).. If we sign Manning I would draft a stud right tackle ( Or sign one in free agency ) to protect our investment or a pass rusher to take our defense to the next level.. And get QB in the second round to groom behind Manning.. Plus Moore play pretty well for us this year.. Sitting behind Manning for a few years would probably do wonders for his game as well.. If none of this happens I would still be very happy with Flynn.. If Philbin thinks he is worth the investment then im on board with our new coach!!! Go Fins!!!!
