I think most on this board and the beat writers are over reacting after the first preseason game, what I saw was quite different from what i read yesterday. Henne did not IMO have a bad game, he was running the same below average team without its 3 best players (Marshall, Long and Bush), he didn't get any help from anyone except Bess who make a diving one handed catch, Fasano dropped a ball and another WR dropped a ball after Henne showed good pocket presence to avoid the rush rolled out to make the throw and the ball was dropped. The only mistake he made was throwing that bad pass after pump faking that resulted in an int. The Defense started the game by forcing a 3 and out. Two good coverage plays by Vontae and good pressure from the front 7. The 2nd Series they got beat up pretty good but they went into a soft zone and didn't mix up the coverage, the rush Defense was nowhere to be found but that's the least of my worries with this D.

After the first half, I saw what i expected to see, an offense without its weapons learning a new system with Henne at QB.....The offensive line wasn't as bad as expected because the Falcons were run blitzing and we didn't call plays to punish them for it, we just continued to run the plays the coaching staff had planned. I liked that the coaching staff had Henne play until he had that good drive and then pull him, and it was good to see Henne make plays with his feet and arm during that scoring drive.

We have a long way to go before that first game and we are where I think we should be at this point in the season.

Trust your eyes, you can't believe anything in the media with all their agendas and Miami shunning all their reports this year (Harbaugh/Orton/Bradshaw). Everybody wants to be right they report the game to make it seems like they are right, even if it means reporting inaccurate to others.

You hit the nail on the head.

Just watching the game now, almost done. I would agree with your observations. I'll be interested to see how they respond next week

I would agree. After reading things yesterday and this morning it sounded like we did nothing good until the falcons went home. We weren't great but not that bad. Saw some glimpses. Played vanilla. No audibles. Just evaluating. I'm not necessarily ecstatic about the game but I'm not upset either

Funny thing is, we played just liked the coach said we were . . . real vanilla, real loose, just out there going through the motions with our starters and then got hungry when the backups got in to compete for roster spots. Nothing to get excited (well not from the starting groups) about but nothing to start bridge jumping about either. Take the positives, work on the negatives and move forward.

I loved Henne's escape and throw when he knew he was going to get killed only the receiver coming back failed to make the catch to make it a great play. Henne looked like had some pepper in his step on the that run for the 1st down. Loved Odricks b!^$h slapping on Baker and then crushing the runner. Henne TD to Hartline was another solid play reconizing the blown coverage and giving him something to catch. Looked like a decent 1st exhibition when most players had what 9 practices with a new OC!

I only saw parts of the first half, I never saw the 1st int but the 2nd one was him trying to fit it in double coverage....I guess captian whinners around here would have preferred Henne to throw it away. Funny cause a lot of the same whinners keep saying they'd at least like someone that would throw it up there and let the receiver get it, I guess Henne's doomed no matter what.
