Henne looked good. I realize this was mop up time. However, his arm strength was impressive. Chad P’s arm strength is a real drain on our offense. Everything has to go perfectly for him to complete a meaningful pass. A guy with a strong arm can react a little differently when a play breaks down. There were several instances yesterday when Warner was able to sneak something in that Chad P could have never gotten away with. Good or Bad WR’s. Henne is something to look forward to, stated from a Beck supporter, whenever this does happen. I have no timetable concerns.
2ndly I am a little concerned about our defensive play calling. 1st and 20.
A. We should be aware that they have a huge advantage WR vs. Secondary.
B. We are on the road
C. 1st Quarter
D. field position in our favor
E. 2nd and 12 better than TD
F. Bend vs. Break
I choose bend. Yes hindsight is 20/20 but honestly these guys are supposed to be NFL caliber coaches, and I can’t see any logic to their thinking. The preparation for this game was obviously off base. Arizona admitted to feeling they can exploit our D. We need to do some serious self analyzing in this regard.
Finally, there were a few to many mistakes that a High school team rarely makes. 12 men on a FG attempt???? Can anyone offer a reason for this???
I realize that we are rebuilding. I believe that we finally have started this process after years of indecision. I am grateful for this because as an organization we picked the right guy, and honestly I believe that we will get back but we must address certain issues that even a team in rebuild mode must abstain from. These will be fixed, but in all honesty I can only say that we are a long way away. So ladies and gents here is to 2010.
