These are my observations based on what I've heard/seen from mini camps and also, yes, personal intuition. Absurd? No. Absurp? Maybe.
Allow me to expand:
John Beck is Jason Garrett because I feel he is an extremely bright student of the game with a definite appreciation of professionalism in the NFL today. However, I'm getting this feeling due to his age and Trent Green's predetermined destiny (starter in '07 and possibly beyond) that this kid will be relegated to an introductary role as substitute for a while. Then when Green moves on, Beck will be close to 30, and we'll have no choice but to look for a newer, younger model. However, he'll stick because of his positive attributes and will provide a great mentor to the future QB.
Ronnie Brown is JJ Johnson because for the investment made to him (2nd overall pick and $$$) he is producing with the same amount of return. That and their styles of running are eerily similar. Plus they both find ways to spend time on the sidelines. Ronnie Brown may not flame out as quickly but I don't think anybody will be drafting him in the first 3 rounds in their upcoming Fantasy Drafts...and with good reason. I just don't think he will ever be the dominating RB that we expected him to be.
Joey Porter is Hugh Green because, and I thought this was obvious, we overspent for an aging OLB who is past his prime and elicits excitement based only on name recognition. He is Junior Seau Pt. 2. Seriously, are you really that excited to land a player who was CUT?
Cam Cameron is Butch Davis because like Butch, he first started out at College, although his tenure at Indiana was very forgettable and insignificant compared to Davis's. Other than that, I base this comparison based on the fact that certain NFL coaches who seem to have a passive approach (like Cam seems to possess so far) never win championships (Tony Dungy aside: Peyton Manning clause). Think of the best coaches in recent memory: Parcells, Cowher, Belichek, Holmgren, Shanahan. All of these guys are highly energetic, but stern in their approach. Cam (His name is Cam!) doesn't fall into that category to me and belongs in the Butch Davis, Wayne Fontes, Jim Mora Jr. mold which why I made that comparison.
Beacuse of these comparisons I have no choice but to assume a continuum of our current trajectory 4-7 wins and a long off season.
