I think Henne did a fine job today but still has work to do. He was good on making smart decisions with the ball, not forcing anything where it shouldn't go. Running with the ball when things werent there was great. My only negatives were I think he held on to the ball to long sometimes resulting in sacks. He seemed indecisive sometimes which led to a couple of sacks. Also, there was at least one throw to Bess where he did not put his whole body into the throw and it one hopped to him. These negatives can be fixed with more practice and more experience, things Henne will get. Overall, I give him a B- with the expectation that he will work on his game. He will have to play a bit better against the Jets so his decison making ability will have to get a hair faster. But I think he will respond well, at least I hope he does.

My opinion on Henne. He had a 92 QB rating, and 63.6 completion %, had a team run for 250 yards, so why press....Oh, and his helmet is 3 sizes too small for him and his forehead is pressed over his eyes.

Henne played a very smart Football game today. We saw what he can do when he prepares for a game as opposed to last week. The only thing is he takes a lot of sacks and that can be fixed. Maybe nobody was open? My favorite was his beautiful floater to Hartline.

He needs more time with the #1 team, he deserves to start no matter how it came to happen and like you said all his negatives are easily fixed with practice.

I much rather him hold on to the ball to long then force something that's not there.

He took maybe 1 sack. The oline let the other 5 through....

I agree. Henne was good at what he was asked to do today - not great. The Bills were very inept on offense and defense. I believe the Fins win this game with any QB on the squad starting. It is good to see Henne get some confidence before facing a good JETS defense. I think he will progress into a good NFL QB but at the present time its clear why Pennington was starting ahead of him. His decision making and accuracy are just not there yet but as he plays more those will improve. When you look at his numbers for this game: 14/22 63.6% 115 yards 1 TD 0 INT they are actually below the numbers Pennington put up in his 2.5 games: 51/74 68.9% 413 yards (165.2 per game when divided by 2.5) 1 TD 2 INT (one being the end of game hail mary). A lot of people that are praising Henne's solid day are the same ones that criticized Pennington after every loss. But winning (even if the Bills stunk) does alter perception.
I also would like to point out the strong arm that Henne has was of little benefit to Ginn. Many thought Pennington was holding Ginn down. I feel Ginn is holding himself back by running lazy routes and dropping too many balls.

i guess you havent been watching.ginn has been running very good routes, and getting open.but i can not defend the few drops he has had.not just any qb can win that is on are roster,in fact they both suck.heres another thought.if the game stays close. ginn doesnt come out of the game.why show what they are going to do with ginn and henne for next weeks game.lots of single coverage next week.thanks for comparing the 2 qbs.a qb's first game and an old vet with a weak arm.both the same, but with one the sky is the limit.i dont have to say who i would go with,or would have along time ago.with the hits henne took today.penny woudnt have made it out of this game healthy.the bills are not inept. they should have beaten the pats.they just ran into a very physical football team today.

I now one thing for sure. He doesnt trust Ginn much and went to the others when needed most. Camarillo, Bess, and finally Hartline for the score.

Bess will get the first downs for us this year.

Henne played smart and was conservative. With the type of hard running and blocking the OL brought he had a lot of help. The coaching staff should be driling in his head about mistakes and throwing the ball away. Do anything but turn the ball over basically. He made some small erros has alluded to on this thread but that is expected for his first start. He will learn when not to hold on too long and when to get rid of the rock without throwing an INT. Note that he is on training wheels right now. The play calling will be conservative so to ease him in slowly. As far as Ginn I don't know what qb would trust him. Ginn has dropped catchable passes and will not lay out and give that extra 5-10%.

Except this was Henne's first start ever while Pennington was a 10 year vet.

As I said in another post I was glad to see him do better on the one thing I have been critical of him on that he stares down recievers. I thought his head was moving much more and he ran a lot more than I thought he would and ran quite well (for a pocket qb)

Outside of the 2 minute drill in which Henne threw some terrible passes, I thought he played smart football. Honestly I was somewhat surprised at his composure in the pocket, he never really panicked and forced a bad pass. He also did a better job of looking off his receivers.

I'd like to see better accuracy on some of his passes and he needs to work on his touch, but overall I though his performance was encouraging. The OL will get a very stiff test against the Jets, I hope they pass block better than they did today.

So you are saying Pennington would have taken all of those sacks but one?? Sorry, but if your answer is yes, you are very wrong.
