Positives
1. We scored off of turnovers. You are supposed to do this and we scored 14 points off of 3.
2. We rushed for over 100 yards. Ryan gave us 45 of that but I'll take it. he needs to rush more as the opportunity presents itself
3. The defense was stingy for most of the game.
4. We got some sacks in non garbage time.
5. I dont remember seeing kiko take any bad angles...
6. Ryan didnt throw any interceptions
7. We didnt allow the score before the half. You know we always allow it and the jets were a few inches away from it
8. HOLY CRAP, did we not have a presnap penalty from either tackle? Kiss your loved ones because I'm pretty sure this is one of the signs of the apocalypse.

Negatives
1. Ryan has ZERO pocket presence. Face it, he is what he is and he doesnt have the feeling the greats have.
2. He is still getting sacked over getting out of the pocket and throwing on the run or running or throwing it away. He throws better while running than in the pocket. I have no idea why Gase doesnt design more roll outs.
3. Our Oline still looks bad. I know we lost a starter for the year but god, will this ever get any better?
4. Kilgore's fumble. WTF was that? I was all for getting rid of pouncy because he was not worth his salary and has only stayed healthy for 1 season but seriously, your job is to snap the ball.
5. John Denny is only mortal. Is he in line for the HOF or at least the ring of honor :)
6. Gase's play calling is not aggressive at all. He was calling plays not to lose the game.
7. (EDIT) 122 total passing yards...This will not win you a lot of games

Overall this was the revers of most of gase's outings. He normally starts slow and gets better in the 2nd half. In this case the offense was anemic the entire game really only sustaining 1 long drive. We won because the defense took the ball away 3 times and gave us short fields to work with 2 of those times. the 3rd take away saved Tannehill for one of his stupider looking moments in his time here. That outing will not beat the patriots, Bengals, Packers, Vikings or Jags.

I really dont understand why they dont call plays to get ryan out of the pocket. In 2016 he did his best work on the run. He is not nor will he ever be a great pocket passer. He is very efficient but 122 yards total isnt going to take you anywhere.

I think we can win next weeks but it will take a better game than we have played in the 1st 2 weeks.

I have to be honest - I was amazed we ended up winning today. Against a better team we play like that and we lose.

Don't get me wrong - it is great to win and be 2-0. But in reality, we played just like the Gase Dolphins always play. We tend to win close games but I am not seeing us getting any better. Tannehill is exactly the same as he always was - frustratingly inconsistent and prone to play the worst when you need him most. The runs today bailed him out but that is scheming more than anything - he is paid to pass and is just below average. Gase can say what he likes, but his playcalling is screaming the truth - he is 'hiding' Tannehill because he is not confident in letting him throw downfield. This looks just like the first half of 2016 when we were riding Ajayi and before RT caught fire for a few games before his injury. Apart from those few games, we won in 2016 by limiting what our QB would do and by running. It can work, but we are not going to be consistent or a serious playoff threat doing this.

The playcalling sucks. There is a lack of discipline and killer instinct. Can we get a run together - yes. Can we maintain that - no.

On the good side, the D is playing pretty well and better than expected. The running game got moving but I HATE seeing all these runs out of the shotgun. They only work when your OL can move people because the RB doesn't hit the hole with speed. We look much better running when RT is under centre.

Look, I know people want to get excited and bash people who are not on the train. But I get up at 3am to watch these games - I am a loyal fan. But I have been doing this a while. Great to win, but I am not convinced that anything has changed. This team could win or lose four on the trot and ultimately 8-8 is about what we are.

lol I didn't realize that. That's awesome!

You don't see the correlation between the three of those?

im worried about Raekwon he looks very slow and lost

Have to agree. His lack of speed was painfully obvious today. Hopefully this is part of recovering from the knee injury.

I’m not of fan of watching small ball when it comes to passing, but it seems clear Gase knows Tannehill is better suited to throwing the ball short so he can get rid of it as quickly as possible. The one play I thought he navigated the pocket well was on the 3rd and 19. However he seemed so flustered he damn near spiked the ball into the ground throwing a short it a distance to Gore who made a great play scooping the ball up.

Shula said about Marino one of his best assets was it didn’t take long for it to go from his brain to his feet or to his arm. That it is not true of Tannehill. Unfortunately that doesn’t seem to be possible to teach. Either have those rapid firing neurons or don’t.

I think RT does well throwing on designed rollouts, but not so much if he is being chased his passes can be very erratic. Watching Darnold in college and the past two weeks it is clear he is superior than RT at navigating the pocket, keeping his eyes downfield and hitting his receivers. Miami was fortunate today on a couple of perfectly placed deep throws being dropped under those conditions.

btw, anyone who thinks that 3rd and 19 play by THill wasnt good ought to watch it in slo mo from the angle where Gore was. see 12 min mark and the replay after:

RT had a SEVEN man rush that he avoided by stepping up and then had to basically throw a "spike" pass over an oustretched defenders hand so that it went straight and quick to Gore, who was moving away
from him. It wasnt even a natural throw as the front line was collapsing into him. he basically took the ball as high as he could get it and shoved it in a bee line down to Gore.

Im more impressed now with it. High degree of difficulty by passer and RB.

the play was beautiful- quit disparaging it.

Two negatives... Gases playcalling... this one is self explanatory.

.... and for the love of God, can we stay in bounds if we’re trying stay conservative and run out the clock? Drake

The Oline played better than most are saying. They were often bringing an extra rusher, but RT simply holds the ball too long. At least 2 of the sacks were on RT.
The unforced fumble at the 12 yd line right after the Jets 1st TD drive could have been a momentum killer had Howard not made the end zone int.
On the final drive, Gore made a great catch on a horrible throw to bail out RT.
Throughout the game it’s obvious Gase didn’t trust RT to make many throws to challenge the Jets secondary.
There is a reason this offense is always among the worst in 3rd down conversions.
RT remains what he’s always been. A decent starting QB, capable of having some really good games, but mostly a game manager. I was hoping for a long little more this season, and perhaps we will see more.

Maybe Gase dosen't trust the O line? After watching 2 first quarter sacks, maybe he decided what he already knew, that the Jests D line was overpowering, and often sending an extra man. We did lose arguably our best player on the O line, and brought in a guy that had been injured and not able to practice. To beat a good pass rush, you throw short and run the ball.

I agree. Gase has complete and absolute trust in RT. He does not trust his line. RT is well suited to the offense that Gase wants to run. He is very rusty at the moment. There is no substitute for games. Preseason and practice does not help with games speed. Let’s see how he looks in game 6 through the rest of the season.

Agree on Tannehill. He was not bad, but he’s not a star QB. If I am the Fins, and Jameis ends up being a cheap trade, I would take him and and use him as the backup. We don’t have a backup anyway, and as much as some people hate Jameis, he has the football mind for this offense. Very quick decisions, huge arm and pocket feel. Similar game to Big Bens, but more mobile. I just feel like Gase could make him a star QB in this offense.

Just to have another guy with real skill behind Tanny would be huge. We all know right now if Tanny goes down, this season is over anyway.

I still think we looked OK with Tanny yesterday. He’s not bad, and I am happy with this offense so far, but it lacks the killer instinct so far. One thing I will say about the Jets - they have a real nice secondary. So I think Gase gameplanned well to keep those guys as a non factor and that is why Tanny’s yardage was rather low. That being said, I still think we need to be looking to find another QB, because we are dreadfully thin there.
