#25- trade down or trade for peppers if not percy harvin wr/rb or duke robinson og

first 2nd rounder- sean smith/louis delmas/rashod johnson s

second 2nd rounder- cody brown olb/eric wood c/antoine caldwell c

3rd- keenan lewis cb

4th- tyronn greene og

5th- scott mckilop ilb

7th- sammie lee hill nt

7th- quinn johnson fb

these picks can and will most likely change after the combine.

While I do think that it is a major possibility that we will trade down (I hope it won't be too far maybe to #28-29), the only thing that I like of your options is Duke Robinson. I, like a lot of people on this board, think that we will go O-Line or Defense with the first pick. If someone happens to fall to #25, that we may not need or like for that matter, then trading down four or five spots would be nice. We could pick up an additional 2nd round pick and have an extreme possibilty of picking up Ron Brace as well as Macho in the 2nd round plus maybe a linebacker.

my thoughts are once you get to around our pick in the first round you're essentially getting a 2nd round graded player. the exception being maybe duke robinson and percy harvin who i believe will carry first round grades.

thus i say either trade down which i'd prefer unless something no one expects drops or trade for a proven player like peppers to play olb. or take most likely duke robinson cause i think harvin will be off the board.

peppers is not fit for the 3-4. harvin pick is laughable. i doubt, but would love delmas at that spot. 2b do jasper brinkley-ilb, to replace crowder. dont go cb with 3-NT Ron Brace.

peppers wants to go to a 3-4 team to play olb. don't underestimate this guy as an athlete.

harvin could be the playmaker this offense desperately needs and the one ted ginn is not. he could help out this wr core catching some passes out of the slot and backfield. a home run hitter in the mold of reggie bush in new orleans. this offense needs playmakers.

more likely harvin is gone by the time we pick anyways once he lights it up at the combine so then i if i can't trade down go with duke robinson og.

jasper brinkley at 2b imo is laughable. ron brace is a plugger nt nothing special.

i've got no problems getting Duke Robinson with our #25 pick, and putting him next to Big Jake....can you imagine the holes he&Jake would open on the left side...or how nasty they'd be together...

Most of the better mock draft guys have Harvin in the 15-20 range, yet you call that pick laughable. A supreme talent at a need position- that's what Harvin is.

We sure do not need Percy Harvin/ We have a better version in him named Ted Ginn Jr. If we go receiver in Round 1 it must be Hakeem Nicks.

YEAH! Lets get another midget speed reciever. Then we can draft pat white and run the option as well as the wildcat!

Wow, that's not a bad idea!! Who will ever see that coming. No one will be able to stop the option. Or how about the triple option?
No, just joking before anyone thinks I'm serious.
I think the best option that was proposed by the thread starter would be Duke or trading down.

that's what I have been saying for days, Duke will improve the Oline big time specially in the running game, Duke and Jake will form a nasty left side in our Oline

harvin is probably more of a luxury pick for a team with better depth. but he's a 1st rounder.

sparano spoke specifically if his being underwhelmed with the way the ogs played this year especially after smiley and thomas went down. pretty good bet duke robinson is a very early target if available.

i still say trading down is the best option.

Peppers is going to command a monstrosity of a contract (bigger than Jared Allen's) in order to play a position he hasn't played.

That, IMO, is a lot of risk. Too much risk.

For that reason, I would pass on the idea. When you're getting into the idea of a MEGA contract (not just a big contract, not just a premium contract, but the biggest contract in the league) you need to iron out as much risk as possible from a character, stylistic, and physical standpoint. Having Julius Peppers play a position he's never played just adds heaping helpings of risk onto your plate and the problem is if he fails at it, you're hamstrung by the biggest contract of any defensive player in the NFL. You would then have to either switch to a 4-3 defense, which most of your players can't really play, or have him play 3-4 DE which he notoriously hates playing and probably will not play particularly well.
