1 Chris Long
2 Phillip Wheeler
2 Gosder Cherlus
3 Red Bryant
4 C Godfrey
6. Brad Cottam
7 Jamie Silva
7 Derrick Morse

1. Chris Long LB/DE, there is a danger in taking a 'tweener with the #1 overall, however Long is not the average "Fish nor Fowl" tweener, if he times well in the 40, we will not regret taking him at #1 overall.

2. Phil Wheeler is a fine LB, with Beau Bell a "?" mark he would be a nice fit for us.

2b. Gosder Cherilus, RT by nature, huge and athletic, can play LT in a pinch.

3. Red Bryant A good pure 3-4 NT, unless Tuna and Co decide that signing a player like Ferguson and coaching Soliai up is the practical, we need a NT in this slot.

4. Charles Godfrey, fast and athletic, if he lasts this long.

6. Brad Cottam, Te, tall and fast, Cottam has the injury bug, but 6'7 is hard to ignore.

7. Jamie Silva S, would be surprised if he lasted this long, has a nose for the ball, good speed, reminds of Pat Tillamn.

7. Derrick Morris G, a stretch to be sure, but he has size, and at this late a pick, if he can run at all, he could see some playing time for our rebuilding squad this year.

A couple of interesting non drafted Fa could be:

Drew Athcinson TE William and Mary, Matt Harper S Oregon and Jacob Issacson S South Carolina and Jason Shirley DT Fresno State.

So what is the verdict?

thats a lot of d-line

True, but maybe not enough dline, I am thinking that pat sims is the guy for us at #32.

A back to basics type draft, stop the run, run the ball type Team this year.

when did we get an extra 7th.

otherwise, Flip Wheeler and Cherilus, and pick different players than Bryant and Godfrey (Bryant is possible in the 3rd, no way Godfrey is there in the 4th).

So aside from Godfrey, it's close to possible.

In a weird way our 4th rd pick is more important then we may realize.

Take our 1-3 picks are going to be starters, the 4th rd pick will tell us alot about which way Tuna and Co will go, that could be a G, MLB, CB, T, TE De, literally that is the one pick this season that we can spend on almost any position.

A CB is not going to be the key for us this season, for the Cromartie fans, keep in mind that a pass rush is needed along with a run stopping line, before a CB becomes a need position.

From Nate Clements to Dre Bly, CB are not difference makers unless paired up with another good CB along with a pass rush..

Don't think Red will make it past midway through the 2nd round. But I like the overall pick.

We need...

DE * CB * WR...with our first 3 picks.

Awesome draft Padre

Thanks Adam, we have so many needs though, we could take 4 olinemen, 4 Dlinemen, 4 Lb's, or 3 Cb's and 1 Safety and not be blamed for going in that direction.

IMO, I would rather take athletic big guys early, they are harder to find later in the draft, wereas a CB can be drafted later and come in and play quickly.

I do love the idea of Dline at #1, Dline at #2 and Oline at #2 then MLB at #3 and Oline at #4.

As strong as this draft is at Tackle, Guard is that weak, maybe a handful of players are step in and start day 1 types at Guard.

And with so many needs, we could squeeze a Qb in at #3 or #2 if we fall in love with one, a UDFA or FA can play Guard as easily as a low round draft pick, if we find a guy like that in FA, it will free up a pick to take a QB.

Great! but Joe Flacco with #32 is a good bet at this point.
