We all know it's coming. The anticipated position battles. Every year, these battles highlight Training Camp and the Pre-Season and even cause controversy. Each week, position by position, I will give my opinions on who will partake in these annual battles who I believe will come out victorious.

Quarterbacks-

Players that are a lock to make the team: Daunte Culpepper, Cleo Lemon, and soon-to-be Joey Harrington

Players in danger of being cut/Practice Squad: Brock Berlin, Justin Holland

Projected Battles at position-

Justin Holland vs. Brock Berlin

My overview: It's pretty much an even battle right now. Both of them were undrafted, and both of them do have their own bandwagons. Each of them have their own knocks. Berlin has been criticized for being only effective in the shotgun and inconsistent in Europe, his performances being hot and cold. Holland, despite his impressive college career, has a throwing average of less than ten yards (8.6 per completion to be exact).

My predicted winner: I don't have a prediction.

Winner gets: 4th/Practice Squad/NFLEL QB

Loser gets: Greyhound/plane ticket home

Cleo Lemon vs. Joey Harrington

My overview: Two quarterbacks. Two different worlds. One was drafted in the first round. The other was undrafted and spent his time between the waiver wire, free agency, practice squad, and brief appearances on a roster. One was shunned by his own teammates of all people. The other was technically drafted by the Dolphins themselves. If (or when...) Joey Harrington comes to the Dolphins, these two QB's from two different worlds will collide. They will battle it out. While it is no doubt both will make the roster, one of them will win the second string/maybe temporary starter spot. Joey Harrington has the tools and the change of scenery might do him some good. Cleo Lemon, however, has the tools as well. He also has the "stellar back-up" tag on him as well.

My predicted winner: To be fair, I have to say Cleo Lemon has the edge. He knows the system a lot better than Harrington (though that is not Joey's fault. More like his soon-to-be former organization's fault).

Winner gets: The second string/maybe temporary starter spot

Loser gets: The third string/temporary second string spot

Good thread.

Holland vs Berlin: Tough because we have not seen Holland in camp. I havent seen him play. I say Holland bc i think Brock is horrible

Cleo vs Joey: You say Cleo, ballsy i like that. I can see you lean in that direction due to the lack of urgency for another QB signing. I think the only thing that will hurt Joey is his mental. If he thinks too much, he will lose the spot. I want to say Cleo bc that would be a great story and a little AJ vindication but i think Joey takes it.

Cool keep em coming...

Thanks. Everybody was thinking Joey will automatically be the main guy behind The Inferno (Yes, I'm talking about Daunte). But I decided to think about everything possible that could effect this position battle.

Harrington has a lot of things against them. He was mishandled by the Detroit organization and his own team turned against him (Dre' ****ing Bly.... what a *****...). Not to mention that Millen is being so stubborn that we have to wait until May 15th or after June cuts. The longer he has to wait until he gets traded, the less time it takes for him to learn the playbook.

But than again, what if Cleo is just not ready to be the stellar back-up just yet? What if Cleo sets the world on fire in Camp/Pre-Season, only for Harrington to burn the Earth, Moon, and maybe even the Solar System? What if Cleo just plays like a "stellar third-string"? What if, God forbid, Cleo gets injured?

Questions, questions?

Just seems like Cleo is the flavor of the month...think Ray Lucas.

I dont think any of us know what to expect from him...

Having watched Joey in college and even in Detroit...he has the skills to be a starter...Mariucci was just too interested in starting his Boyfriend Garcia...

Berlin gets cut and Holland goes to the practce squad and NFL Germany.

I think the #2 QB spot is Harrington's to lose....I also think he holds onto it.

I SAY:

Mrs. Lemon, is that you?

I find it hard to believe that anyone thinks Cleo Lemon will be the second string QB over Joey Harrington thus potentially making him the starter if Culpepper needs more time to heal. Unless you are related, I just can't figure it out.

the CB training camp battles will be the most interesting to me... we ahve a lot of young raw guys back there and it'll be fun to see who emerges, not only as the starters, but how the whole depth chart will line up...

well we gave up a 6th and a backup QB for cleo... and we gave up a 6th conditional for joey harrington...

to our organization they cost about the same and are on even levels... i dont see why it matters what round they were drafted in 5 years ago... if that was the case tom brady is a bum...

its kind of an unknown how cleo will do and how joey will do in this system... so i can see how some might side with cleo the unknown whey they have seen joey play before, and came away unimpressed...

I understand.

I gave Cleo Lemon the edge because Lemon, at the point of the Harrington signing, knows the system a whole more than Joey Harrington.
