Last time, I posted my opinion on what I believe will be the camp battle amongst our quarterbacks (To see that thread, please click here: http://www.finheaven.com/boardvb2/showthread.php?t=141739). Now I am doing running backs.
Running Backs -
Players that are a lock to make the team: Ronnie Brown, Sammy Morris
Players in danger of being cut/Practice Squad: Travis Minor, Kay-Jay Harris, Gerald Riggs Jr
Projected Battle(s) positions-
Kay-Jay Harris vs. Travis Minor vs. Gerald Riggs Jr.
My overview: I may be only 17 (Going on 18), I can still remember a time when we were just struggling to find stability to the running game. However, last year and this year, I think Saban made/is going to make cuts that he doesn't want to make. With Saban holding four running backs on the roster last year, two out of the aforementioned combatants will most win spots, unless Saban decides to go with just three.
As we all know, Saban prefers a nice a power running game. Riggs and Harris can provide that. However, Saban has spoke about Travis Minor being a change-of-pace back and a great special teams player (Which is important to have when you have an ST ace such as Gilmore defect to another team). However, Sammy Morris is that, and a much better runner. Kay-Jay Harris was said to improve quite a bit on special teams as well. In my humble opinion, if Kay-Jay Harris and Gerald Riggs Jr. can show immense ability on ST, they are the winners.
My predicted winner: Kay-Jay Harris and Gerald Riggs Jr. if Riggs have great ST ability, Kay-Jay Harris and Travis Minor if not.
Winners gets: Roster spot
Loser gets: Trip to free agency/Practice Squad
