For me, we could obviously improve at any position, but we have glaring holes that must be addressed in some way this off season at 6 spots.

1. OG
2. DT
3. WR
4. MLB
5. FS
6. CB

There's no way we can go into next season with our guard situation as is, and I don't want to spend a high pick on one, IMO we must sign a starting guard in FA.
Long story short, my problem is this, if signing Suh is so financially prohibitive that it means we cannot also go after a quality guard (Iupati, Franklin) or MLB (Harris) then I don't think its worth it. We just have too many needs.
If Hickey and co can find a way somehow to sign Suh and also bring in one of the other guys I mentioned then I'll be all for it, if not then I think we're better off going after Knighton at DT, which would allow us to pursue a couple of other quality FAs as well.

Financially it works, but you have to look more mid-tier for a guard. Wisniewski, Bolling and Blalock are more than capable.

MIKE is tougher, but more to do with the competition and the lack of talent.

I diagree.. We can sign mediocre players to fill those gaps but it's pointless. No elites. Better to sign him and fill them gaps in 2 years. And then be a Super Bowl champion team

1. OG - Yea, it is a problem. Also, it is a very overstated one when analyzing the oline as a whole. This offensive line was more than decent when we had our trio of Albert/Pouncey/James in the fold. Billy Turner is expected to fill one of those guard spots and the other spot we will have draft picks and veteran guys going for it. Ideally, yea, you'd like a proven, successful guy there . . . but I think the situation in manageable w/o putting big money towards it.

2. DT - If Suh signs, not a problem at all. Just a position that needs a little depth. Suh/Mitchell and you have Anthony Johnson/AJ Francis. You grab a guy or 2 in this deep DT draft. Our scouting department has never had a problem finding talented defensive tackles.

3. WR - Fully expecting a draft pick here, day 1 or 2. Also expecting a guy late and I am not cutting Wallace. We could also bring in a low priced veteran with little to no guaranteed money to compete. A ton of these guys on the market.

4. MLB - If Suh signs, I think we look seriously at Kendricks at 14. Maybe Perryman later on. Both guys can play day 1. I think a FA LB is out of the question. Overpriced.

5/6. FS/CB - No question, this is the big concern. I think a guy we can sign here is Chris Clemons. He should be cheap and is familiar with the system and of course him and Reshad Jones go back. Delmas injury is concerning but I'd sign him back as well and Clemons would be insurance on Delmas. Thomas/Kovacs in the mix at safety. Plus Aikens as that versatile DB. CB, you need something from that 2013 class I'm not going to sugar coat that. Taylor looked pretty good when healthy so that was promising. He's our best tackler at CB. Davis has to give us something. I'm an advocate of bringing Jimmy Wilson back, but strictly as competition at the nickel CB spot. Also the draft will see us select a guy and we could dip into free agency as well.

7. RB - Draft . . . Day 3 . . . thunder back to compliment Miller/Williams.

8. Backup QB - Draft . . . Day 3 . . competes with Lobato and cheap veteran free agent.

Long story short, you give something to get something. Signing Suh makes it imperative on Hickey/Tannenbaum to hit on the lion's share of draft picks this year and utilize the rest of free agency to get guys you know are going to compliment what you do in the draft. It's not easy, but it's not like we are some powerhouse team that is risking our mainstay in the playoffs over the last 14 years. We've been once . . . so yea, I'm open to anything.

I know I am in a minority, but I am not looking for a RB to compliment Miller. I'm looking for a RB to make miller the compliment.

You aren't in the minority.

However you have a running back who had some success last year and still on his rookie contract. This draft is filled with bigger 4.6 backs, many with good hands. It's not out of the question to grab a guy on day 3 and he becomes the feature back in 2016 while jettisoning Miller due to him being a UFA. Plus Williams flashed some serious tackle breaking ability and good hands out of the back field (minus that bad drop).

You sign Suh, you can't give money to a Murray or Spiller . . . you just can't. And I prefer not to anyways . . . . we'll get our guy in the draft. Minor concern IMO.

Until about 45min ago I had this same mentality, and actually created a similar post. After seeing some of this guys highlights and imagine what he could to with Wake and Vernon/Jordan along his side, it would be SCARY. Our whole defense instantly becomes top 5, and he will make our LBs better. We can draft players and develop them how youre suppose to, and there are good guards in this draft we can take and groom like Turner and D.Thomas are being groomed. Shelly Smith should be able to come in and play, and keep in mind Posy June 1st cuts we can also hope for a vet guard being replaced by a rookie.

I agree with most of this...

OG is being made a bigger issue then it needs to be....Pouncey will go back to Center and I expect Turner to step in and be at least good. Too much solid video and has the right attitude (as well as a nasty streak)...

RB is the least of my concerns...find guys late in the draft if need be....Ia lso think you can roll with Williams/Miller and be fine.

S - Just bring Delmas and Thomas back, both know the system.

Again, some want stars at every position, but most teams have a few stars and solid guys who fill out a roster...

Safety I'd bring back Chris Clemons also. He's a free agent, he knows the system and has worked with Grimes and Jones in 2013. No brainer signing and he'd be cheap. Delmas I'd love back but depending on him may be more foolish than depending on Moreno to come back . . . . this guy is always injured.

Based on price I think you could bring both Clemons and Delmas back and let them battle it out...

My thoughts exactly. I'd want a veteran CB in the mix also, draft a CB sometime in the draft and hopefully Taylor/Davis/Aikens . . . one of them at least works out. Need some luck in that secondary. It's really the only area I'm somewhat worried about. Not nearly worried enough to make me not want to purue Suh. He makes the group better anyways.

Michael Thomas is in that discussion as well.

Yea for sure. Delmas/Clemons/Thomas @ FS. . . . thats ok for this year if you ask me.

I understand your concerns but consider this - Suh is a true star, an All Pro. You win with this kind of talent. Your number two on the list is covered with him. There are not many great guards on the FA market and bidding could get high for a position that doesn't merit it. They have to draft well regardless. Those top two picks and possibly three have to make an impact. They need four rookies to make meaningful impacts next year and a few second/third year players to take major steps. I think they can hope/pray/plan that one OG spot is filled from within from internal development. Corner is a must to address, I agree with you and that will either be another big cash commitment in FA or our 1st or 2nd rounder. I think the other top pick goes to a WR, unless Andre Johnson comes home. They can bring back Delmas for cheap.

They can be somewhat creative in year one of other FA contracts they sign to lessen the cap burden and then next year there will be plenty of money with dead cap coming off the books and another cut or two.

At the end of the day, if Suh wants to be in Miami, you have to make every effort to sign him. He is in his prime and a true star.

Trying to convince yourself that signing a generational, dominant, defensive tackle is a bad thing. Typical Dolphins fans lol.

Suh makes your entire front 7 better. The entire unit. He's that impactful. He's worth every penny.
