Guys I need help with this. I posted this a little bit a go and want or insight and opinions!
There is alot of talk on how the Lottery isnt fair. Well I think I have a fair way of doing it.
Take the 8 teams with the worst record in the NBA, not to be confused with taking 4 from the East 4 from the West.
So if they went with this format the Lottery playoffs would look like this.
1.Memphis Grizzlies
2.Boston Celtics
3.Milwaukee Bucks
4.Atlanta Hawks
5.Seattle SuperSonics
6.Minnesota Timberwolves
7.Portland Trailblazers
8.Charlotte BobCats
Now the teams 9-who ever didn't make the playsoffs don't play nor do they get Lottery balls their penciled in.
So this is how the Bracket would loo, it would look much different seeing how there would be reseeding.
8 vs 7 6 vs 5
4 vs 3 2 vs 1
The team with the worst record would play at home no matter what. Seeing how they are the worst and wouldn't be fair if they had to play elsewere.
Lets say 7 beats 8, 4 beats 3, 5 beats 6, 1 beats 2 the Lotto if you want to call it that would be
8.Bobcats
7.Minnesota
6.Milwaukee Bucks
5.Boston Celtics
Now its 7 vs 5, and 4 vs 1
Lets say 5 beats 7 and 4 beats 1
Now it looks like
4.Portland TrailBlazers
3.Memphis Grizzlies
Now its 4 vs 5 and 4 comes out on top
Then its
2.Seattle Supersonics
1.Atlanta Hawks
Final Lottery playoff standings
8.Bobcats
7.Timberwolves
6.Bucks
5.Celtics
4.Trailblazers
3.Grizzlies
2.Supersonics
1.Hawks
That way its fair. You would see a very compeitive games to get the top pick. The Higher seeds would face other higher seeds while the lower seeds faced the lower seeds. Reseeding would take place in all this.
Now the question is how do you stop teams from tanking? Easy Teams that aren't playoff bound would have to play their starters through atleast 30 mins of play. Now how you determine the starters is simple Who ever started the majority of the season would have to play.
Now as far as trading draft picks are conern the way I see it is like this. Lets say The Suns trade Marion for a player(s) and the draft picks. What would happen is they would automaticly get the player(s) and Second round pick. How the Suns would acquire the first round pick would be if the team finish in the bottom half of the 8. If they finish better then they keep it.
So what do you guys think? Please comment on this. I need opinions or why it wouldn't work!
