My random musings on the Dolphins...

Volk is pushing Ricky over Ronnie on every thread on the board. That much is clear. It was dead obvious Sunday in the massive combined 17? carries that Ricky outclassed Ronnie in every way.

Propping Ricky's speed, posting where is Ronnie's speed? Have an agenda much?

This is where my confusion kicks in. You would think Ronnie would be more of a favorite from a fan perspective, to get the bulk of the carries. Yet Ricky out of nowhere seemed to gain fan backing. That just baffles me. I would say ALOT of fans didn't ever want to see Ricky in a Finz uni again. I personally think Ricky needs to EARN his spot as the featured back. Not saying Ronnie doesn't, but I don't know why we're hearing so much Ricky over Ronnie talk considering the events of the past year. Keep in mind, we still don't know if Ricky can be even close to what he once was. I guess time will tell.

I have not once "pushed" for Ricky, nor do I have an agenda. Furthermore, I don't recall posting anything about Ricky in other threads on Ronnie. In this thread, I merely pointed out that Ricky looked faster than before...not faster than Ronnie.

I also pointed out that I believe Ricky will become the starter. This is based on a number of things. I will break them down in list form to avoid confusion:

1. Ricky is a vet. He has lots of experience behind a suspect line. He has an experience edge over Ronnie in this respect.

2. Ricky is facing the downside of his career, Ronnie is just getting started. If we are to get any value out of Ricky, this is the season in which to do it.

3. If Ricky is going to be traded, he will have to have some measure of performance for other teams to gauge his value.

4. The offensive line is struggling in the run game, and this means lots of extra abuse on the RB. Why risk your franchise back of the future, when you have a Hiesman RB just 2 seasons removed from holding the number 1 rushing title?

In short, the logic here is to let Ricky take the abuse while saving your rookie for when you have a real OL. This is getting maximum value out of your RB core. As long as Ricky can perform to a similar level as Ronnie, why risk the future? It's just that simple.

You assume way too much. I was a staunch opponent to Ricky's return, for which I took alot of grief on these forums. However, since Ricky is here now, we must get value for him. Again, if he offers similar performance to Ronnie behind this hideous offensive line, there is no good reason to start Ronnie and jeopardize his future as a franchise back.

I agree with a lot of that. I still think we are a talented team that is underachieving....
