With Peyton Manning about to win another super bowl and Sanchez on his to winning 3 or 4 according to the media they have now taken Marino out of the top 5 qbs of all time and even have put Brady in ahead of Marino . I am suprised they didnt put cry babie Aikman ahead of Marino too.

what i am ranting about is Bob Greise won 2 super bowls and has been to 4 or 5 so why isnt his name mentioned he was a really good qb too. Payton is no doubt a great qb but to put Farve and Brady ahead of Marino is a crime.

how about putting Marino at #5 and Greise at #10 I think that is reasonable.

as for Sanchez the media is making him to be the afc east mega star .
this angers me to no end that Sanchez is already labeled king and he hasnt even been a Duke or prince yet.

this is why I feel so strongly about getting out offense on track and get Henne some help.

we have adressing the deffense for 12 years now we should already have a top 15 defense its past time to add some mega stars on offense and with our runninbacks all camping out on the injury reserve list we need to use f/a to help this team as well as just the draft.

RD1 no f in way should we draft a linebacker in rd 1

rd 1 wr dez Bryant or tightend Jermaine Gresham or C.J. spiller would help Henne out.

I am afraid that we are going to be too lopsided again and waste Henne's years . why in hell cant we fix the offense first and then defense there is no law that says we should be a defense and run the ball offense every freakin year .

this one dimensonial type of offense is why Marino didnt get a superbowl ring.

the defense is almost a good unit , it just needs 5 more players which 3 of them can be had in f/a and in the 3rd and 4th rds so I dont get why we keep trying to be so one sided .

our offense was the worst in the entire league and you shouldnt deny it .

ok rant over :jcane:

I need a beer my head is killing me but i just needed to rant because I want us to have the best offense and a great defense both . :jcane:

If payton Manning goes on to win this super bowl he is IMO the best QB of all time Hands down

Since when are there only 17 teams in the league. (Referring to your worse offense comment) So i am denying it. The Defense was 22nd. We need help on both sides of the ball. We really don't need many more weapons on offense ( A Big playmaking reciever).

Why shouldn't Favre be ranked ahead of Marino? He's crushed just about all of his passing records.....and also has the superbowl ring...

He's been to the NFC Championship Game quite a few times and taken 2 different teams to the NFC Championship Game and was doing it at or around the age of 40....

He's the most durable and toughest SOB at quarterback the league has ever seen or ever will see....and maybe even the most durable and toughest player period....

Favre, Montana, and Manning are the only 3 QB's I would even consider putting ahead of Marino.....and a case could be made either way on all of them as to why they should be ahead or behind him.....ditto for Elway and Brady...

There is no right answer......but I always asked myself this question...

If they were all on the same team battling for the starting job...who would win it?

I say Marino or Elway...

Perhpas a bit off-topic here but Bob Griese would get his *** handed to him in today's NFL. Today's NFL is far better than yesterday's NFL and tomorrow's NFL will be light years ahead of today's NFL.

Carry on.

steve carlton should be ranked ahead of randy johnson and katerina witt should be ranked ahead of dorothy hamill. i hate the sandcheeze. rant over.

Yes and no. A guy like Brady who cries for a flag anytime a defender even think about tackling him wouldn't last 30 years ago.

The play today isn't necessarily better, it's just different. I would say defensive play could be considered better only because all the rules help the offense. So a elite defensive player could probably succeed or do great back in the old days.

Today's NFL is way more violent and way more physical than it has ever been. And because of that, you've seen the NFL implement all of these rules that we complain about today. Brady doesn't "cry" for a flag because he's a sissy. Brady cries about a flag because he might be able to sway the judgment of a referee. It helps his team. Tom Brady is a team first guy. Without the premier QB's, the television ratings take a hit and no one watches. The NFL is a business and a business must protect their investment. And the QB is the most important player on damn near every franchise.

If Peyton wins another one then this would be the 2nd title with probably/argueably the worst defense of all Superbowl winners. Not to mention he keeps making stars out of nobodies, you could also argue his oline isn't the best either. It's absolutely amazing what he does year ina nd year out which to me makes him #1 on the QB rankings. He'll own every record period, except Favre's interception record of course, lol!!!

Ask twenty experts who their top five all-time QB's are and you would have about 20 different QB's. Marino is the best ever and that's how I will always feel regardless of who comes along.

Marino was light years ahead of his time. Marino was then what Peyton is today. And unfortunately, that was his worst enemy.

Griese played in 3 Super Bowls, not 4 or 5. He retired a couple of years before the 1982 Woodley/Strock game with Washington.

And Griese would do fine today. He had more than adequate arm strength, excellent maneuverability, plus terrific smarts. He starred in college and pro, on merit.

The league right now is coated with a handful of great QBs and plenty of stiffs. A Bob Griese in his prime currently would slot much closer to the elite than the bottom. The guy went to 8 Pro Bowls and was first team all pro twice. This was hardly a fringe Hall of Famer. Newsflash: conditions have gotten easier for QBs, not worse. I used to watch Griese look at a primary receiver who had been chopped out of the play, which was legal at the time. He'd be chuckling to himself at the advantages these days.

It always busts me up when Griese and Marino are treated like two different species around here. It's almost like a game, the Marino worshippers desperate to denounce the prior QB with all the long term hardware. Meanwhile, the lifetime yards per attempt were identical at 7.3 and Griese had superior yards per completion. Marino had lower INT percentage, typical of the difference in the two eras.

A Hall of Fame QB could play in any era. Besides, his son Brian played successfully within the past couple of years. There was no comparison between Bob and Brian, in terms of athletic ability or QB moxie or overall effectiveness as a QB. It's absurd to believe Bob couldn't play today when we've got the Brian example still warm.

I disagree. He is great, top five easily by the time he is done. But he has a long way to go before he passes Johnny Unitas. To me, he is still the best of all time. Marino is the most talented to ever play, but Unitas revolutionized the game.

One more. Manning must win three and he must hold all the records when he retires.

Winning this one only makes him even with Brady in the debate lets not for get he still has to win this Super Bowl too.

Marino was still more talented as a passer then Manning is now. I don't say that because I am a Miami fan either. Watch game film of them both and as a pure passer no one is better or ever was better then Marino.

Manning is a smarter QB. Manning reads the D like no other in history and his accolades show it.
