I replied to Armando Salguero's blog because of a thoery I posted on Finheaven.

Here is what I posted on Armando's Blog:

Two days ago I recently posted on a Miami Dolphin forum called
Finheaven, at www.finheaven.com that maybe, perhaps, Ricky Williams
tested positive on purpose. I theorized he tested positive on purpose
the last two years because the Miami Dolphins as an organization
wouldn't let Ricky Williams retire when he wanted to. I said they held
the 8 million dollars that he owed the Dolphins over his head like a
sledgehammer.

Now in no way did I infer that I or that anyone should ever condone the
use of drugs as a means to an end. Nor does the theory I put forward
excuse such behavior. That was never my intention. I just found it
rather odd that it happened two years in a row. And that it happened
within days of his possible reinstatement.

Some people read what is written and some people read into what is
written. It is like listening I suppose. In general most people only
tend to hear what they want to hear. It would be good for people to
learn how to do both.

As for Ricky. I still think if he wanted to get around that 8 million
dollar hammer, testing positive would be a good way to do it. It would
send a message without saying a word to the Miami organization. But who
knows only God and the man himself knows what’s in the heart the man.

he tested positive for drugs because he is a drug-addict and doesn't care about football. when will you realize that Ricky falls into that great athlete that doesn't care? you and the psychiatrist need to stop making excuses for him, even medically.

you are giving Ricky waaaaay to much credit. in his usual state of consciousness, he wouldn't be capable of putting that plan together. :)

I think Ricky never stopped smoking. Either technology caught up with him or his level of thc was so high that his tea no longer worked.

I don't think Ricky would fail on purpose and continue playing professionally like he did in Canada last year.

So if he really wanted to retire why did he go play in Canada.

See everyone is bashing him. I too bash him I never have done drugs nor touch the stuff.

But I do understand he has mental problems. They say He self medicates himself with pot. Pot is used for many diseases out there to help people with their problem.

at this point he uses pot like a crutch when he is going to do a funtion he smokes it because he knows he is going to feel bad or brings it on himself so he smokes it and feels relaxed.

CpuFan, I agree with you to some extend. I have to believe he meant to fail this drug test. The timing is too perfect for it just to be a "falling off the wagon" or a failure of the masking agents. While I'm not sure if his motive is to avoid the $8 mil, I am pretty sure he doesn't want to play football for the Miami Dolphins.

I will not buy that this guy deprived himself of his weed for a full year and then on the eve of his reinstatement went out and took a celebratory bong hit. I also won't buy that he has been using some kind of masking agent that has worked perfectly for a full year and then failed him on the eve of his reinstatement.

Sorry, but I think its more like his "Masking Agents" didn't come thru for him this time.

doubtful....masking agents can show up in a test and give a 'unreadable response' where they would test him again...he was getting tested way too much to be smoking all the time and using those.

Well the word around the league was Ricky was gonna be traded, basically freeing him from Miami's stranglehold. By testing positive it ensures he remains a Fin even if it's only for another 6 months and ruins any chance he could play elsewhere. I'm also sure if Ricky weren't going to be traded and Ricky went to the FO and requested a trade, they would consider it. I just don't think he would fail intentionally, it really is a long way around something that really doesn't need to be done. We still don't know if Ricky failed a test, it's not been made official , not that I've read or heard, so I would at least wait for the official word before I theorize.

Here's an article that asks pretty much the same question

Williams a lot of things, but not stupid

Now, knowing that his best advocate with the Dolphins, head coach Nick Saban, has left for the University of Alabama, knowing that the new coach, Cam Cameron, doesn't want him around in any case and believing that money doesn't really matter (or perhaps understanding that when it comes to debt, you can't squeeze blood out of a stone), Williams apparently decided to light up a fat one and damn the consequences.

Put it all together and is that the action of a dummy, of a helpless drug addict, or of a guy who, despite all of his new-age, river-of-life dreaminess, knew exactly what he was doing?

I agree completely. Word was he was going to Green Bay their pick to KC and Trent Green to us. I have supported him in the past but this is just blatant manipulation on his part and I want him out of town ASAP even if that means cutting him. Forget about the $8 million and lets move on here!
