I went against my strategy....I tried hard to draft a CB with a Day One pick in this mock, but it just didn't work out that way. These are the guys I like with this mock. So tell me what you think.

1. WR - Hakeem Nicks: He will become our #1 WR, tough, physical, will go across the middle, and most importantly; he is a YAC monster. Nicks and Ted Ginn Jr. will make a great WR tandem.

2a. SOLB - Clint Sintim: This would be a steal for us if he's available at this pick. Would make an immediate impact at the OLB spot opposite Porter.

2b. WLB/DE - Lawrence Sidbury, Jr.: Meet Joey Porter's heir apparent.

3. ILB Jasper Brinkley: True thumper in the middle. Aging Akin Ayodele's heir apparent. He will bring a physical presence that we need in the middle. Yes this is a reach, I don't want to risk waiting till the 4th round to draft him because he looks to be back from that knee injury.

4. CB - Donald Washington: I know this pick will not go well with most because he only ran a 4.55 at the combine. He's 6ft. 205 lbs, he has a 45 inch vertical and a 11'3" broad jump. I'll take a flier on him in the 4th. I wonder how his Pro Day went today, hopefully he improved his 40? Does anyone know?

5. OT - Joel Bell: Small school sleeper, should provide much needed depth at the tackle position. OT Augustus Parrish is another option here too.

7. FS - CJ Spillman: Solid safety, should provide good depth behind Gibril Wilson and Yeremiah Bell.

7. WR - Isaiah Williams: Limited playing experience. He's 6'2", 205lbs and just ran a 4.38 at his Pro Day (U. of Maryland).

7. DT - Antonio Dixon: Massive nose tackle 6'3" 325lbs from the U. With the right coaching he could develop and possibly challenge for a roster spot after a year on the practice squad. Why wait to draft a DT this late, because next year's crop is very talented and very deep. We can draft an impact NT then.

I would be pissed if thats how our draft went...sorry, but the only pick I like is Clint Sintim in the 2nd round....and thats not really all that plausible, he could be gone before the 25th pick.

I feel that WR isnt that critical for us to address in round one...however if we did pick a WR in the 1st round this year....Nicks would be my guy.

I really hate mock drafts....the top 10 is a little easier to perdict but the rest is really tough to perdict. Its all about who the coaches like, they dont listen to Mel Kiper or Todd Mcshay, so players drop who shouldnt drop and players get picked earlier who shouldnt get picked early (according to the "experts")

Rey Mauluga could fall to us at the 25th pick
Vontae Davis could be there
Brian Cushing as well

If I was the coach and none of those players were available....this is what what my draft would look like (1st 3 rounds)

1st. Clay Matthews OLB USC
2nd A. Darius Butler CB Connecticut
2nd B. Brian Robiskie WR Ohio state
3rd. Fili Moala DT USC

I do not think we are drafting a WR early. The salivation of H. Nicks is a bit overdone on this board, which usually tells me that we will not be picking this guy.

:up:Thanks for the input. I like hearing the criticism, especially with this mock because it goes completely what I envisioned. My previous mock had Matthews, Butler, and Robiskie in it, but I wanted to try something different this time around.

Honestly, I'm starting to think Matthews is starting to become overrated, he is a good ball player, but I'm not sure if he is first round worthy anymore. I don't like hearing someone talk about "bloodlines" because that does not guarantee success in football, horse racing...maybe yes, but not in football. There are plenty of NFL sons in the league and they are not enjoying the same success as their fathers. If he is there at 2a, which I highly doubt, I think thats where his best value is.

I think Butler's stock is rising and he will go before our #2a pick too. All this is hard to predict, but thats what makes it fun...right?

I don't think we'll wait until the 4th round to take a flier at a CB

I agree, I don't think so either. My original mock had us picking Butler with #2a, but now his stock is starting to rise. Is he worth our first round pick, I'm not so sure YET. If there is a Vontae Davis available, he's worth being picked there. The bad thing about this year's crop of CBs, there is a noticeable drop off after Davis, Malcolm Jenkins, and Butler. There is no pure shut-down CB this year; plus Parcells and Ireland tendencies show overall they have not drafted CBs early. So that's why I went against my strategy in this mock to see how it will come out.

I don't think it's overdone. It is actually merited. Nicks is a physical WR that is the best at YAC. We need a receiver like that. Will Parcells and Ireland pick him, probably not. I've gone with LB in my previous mocks, I wanted to try something different this time to see how everything would fall. So if we don't go LB in the first, what position would be addressed, probably CB or WR. There will be a some very good WRs available when we pick at #25, but the right CBs might be gone by then, Butler may be there, but that is it. I'm not ready to pick Butler over Nicks yet.

That's true, and I would pick any of these guys over Nicks, but these are hypothetical situations, I don't think any of these guys will be there.
