I went against my strategy....I tried hard to draft a CB with a Day One pick in this mock, but it just didn't work out that way. These are the guys I like with this mock. So tell me what you think.
1. WR - Hakeem Nicks: He will become our #1 WR, tough, physical, will go across the middle, and most importantly; he is a YAC monster. Nicks and Ted Ginn Jr. will make a great WR tandem.
2a. SOLB - Clint Sintim: This would be a steal for us if he's available at this pick. Would make an immediate impact at the OLB spot opposite Porter.
2b. WLB/DE - Lawrence Sidbury, Jr.: Meet Joey Porter's heir apparent.
3. ILB Jasper Brinkley: True thumper in the middle. Aging Akin Ayodele's heir apparent. He will bring a physical presence that we need in the middle. Yes this is a reach, I don't want to risk waiting till the 4th round to draft him because he looks to be back from that knee injury.
4. CB - Donald Washington: I know this pick will not go well with most because he only ran a 4.55 at the combine. He's 6ft. 205 lbs, he has a 45 inch vertical and a 11'3" broad jump. I'll take a flier on him in the 4th. I wonder how his Pro Day went today, hopefully he improved his 40? Does anyone know?
5. OT - Joel Bell: Small school sleeper, should provide much needed depth at the tackle position. OT Augustus Parrish is another option here too.
7. FS - CJ Spillman: Solid safety, should provide good depth behind Gibril Wilson and Yeremiah Bell.
7. WR - Isaiah Williams: Limited playing experience. He's 6'2", 205lbs and just ran a 4.38 at his Pro Day (U. of Maryland).
7. DT - Antonio Dixon: Massive nose tackle 6'3" 325lbs from the U. With the right coaching he could develop and possibly challenge for a roster spot after a year on the practice squad. Why wait to draft a DT this late, because next year's crop is very talented and very deep. We can draft an impact NT then.
