Man there are so many spots I'd like to fill. And let me qualify this by saying, their personal makeup is hard to tell without meeting them. Makeup can be gleaned from an interview. And this is Parcells/Ireland/Sparano's forte. That's how you separate a loser like Derek Hagan (a first day loser) from Bess (an undrafted winner). Also, who knows what we will do in free agency? So, these mocks are premature. [Remember last year, we completely did not address OT in free agency and then boom Jake was the pick.]
My hunches:
1. OLB Mark Herzlich--he fills a major need if he comes out. I really like Herzilich's motor. I think his attitude and tools will fit nicely with Miami's needs. He can rush and believe he can play the run too by sealing the edges. I really like CB Victor Harris here too, but finding a good OLB may require a first rounder whereas a corner may come later. [If for some reason Everette Brown, Selvie, Sintim or Raji fall here, I would jump all over them.]
2A. FS Louis Delmas (or Rashad Johnson) - I like these two particular safeties because I think they can cover pretty well over some other guys with lesser ball skills. And we need a safety with ball skills. Either of these guys would fill a tremendous need. If we could get a Taylor Mays in the first round, then maybe we go corner here.
2B. WR Ramses Barden - This kid has amazing size and is flat out productive. Would love to get him later, but not sure he'll be there. I also like the receiver Nicks out of North Carolina here if he is on the board.
3. ILB Jasper Brinkley--kid has outrageous size. I think he would bring a tremendous physical presence to the inside of our run defense. I am not sure about his abilility to read, but he would bring some rugged tough play to South Florida. His size reminds me of Levon Kirkland. Can't compare his ability to Levon's but his size would be great in the middle of our defense. I think we need a physical presence at ILB.
4. CB Brandon Underwood --Did not even start at Cincinnati but was behind two tremendous players. He has great physical tools and may just be a nice surprise in the 4th round. IF NT Ron Brace were here, I'd jump on him, but we need a corner somewhere too.
5. OT Erc Vanderheuvel- we need depth at OT badly and this guy has the size that Ireland and Parcells may look for. Not sure about his pass protection.
7A OLB Lee Robinson -- small school but pretty productive and good measurables.
7B TE Marquez Branson--productive small school tight end may be worth taking a flyer on. Good speed.
7C DT Sammie Lee Hill -- small school kid with great size and pretty productive.
Overall, 3 LB's and 2 DB's would fill needs.
