Personally, I love what Bill Lazor's done so far and I love that he's here. It gives us hope. But execution is the bottom line, and talent on the roster makes a difference. I loved the first drive, although it didn't seem as up tempo as I expected it to be...and I was hoping once the second team got on the field, Lazor's offense would keep churning. But they went three and out right after Tannehill called it a night. That worries me a little because while scheme helps, it's not everything.

Here's the thing:

Who do you need to add to this formula (other than Mike Wallace)?

Pass complete to Miller for 6 yards
Pass complete to Matthews for 4 yards
Pass complete to Gibson for 8 yards
Pass complete to Miller for 2 yards
Pass complete to Matthews for 36 yards
Touchdown pass to Gibson for 6 yards

I think who you need to add is Knowshon Moreno.

I could be wrong, and maybe this is because Lamar Miller let me down a season ago and I had to drop him from my fantasy lineup...but again the buildup in camp was with Miller, and in this first preaseason game, to me anyway, he wasn't that impressive. He's a ok player who's going to make some big runs once in a while, and should have better stats in this offense than Sherman's. But we need everyone to step up to the next level, we need a strong running game, and a back who can also catch and block. I can't wait for Moreno to get in the game.

As far as guys like Gibson and Landry, both will make an impact this year. When Wallace steps in, hopefully they'll move him around like they promised, and have him actually be a difference-maker this year. Because every defense is not going to be the sh*tty Falcons. We're going to get the football shoved down our throat if we can't be better in the run game, and complete the long ball as soon as defenses start creeping up.

Go Dolphins!

Don't forget the addition of Clay.

I agree with a lot of your comments. Miller and Moreno combo is best. I totally agree with the Run D and the LB play still is sub par. This D is going to have a hard time getting off the field, and the DBs will need to clean up the contact and hand checking down the field. I agree, that after the first drive, the offense was vanilla and I don't buy the excuse every year that they don't want to show what they have. If you can't score in pre season, you're not going to in the regular season. I thought we had a true fourth down back in Williams, but the injury bug is hitting us hard this year. Overall, very impressed with the OL and Miller gaining positive yards running.

So what did you all think about Bill Lazor's revamping of the offense? To quote Ripley..."Is it everything you hoped it would be?"

I think if we had the 2nd or 3rd string QB there might have been a chance but what we got was the 4th string QB who hasn't even been in camp that long. They must not be too impressed with Jensen if Laboto got the PT and played after Jensen had been with the team for so much longer. I don't care about our preseason record and I think it was a good call to get RT out of there. Let's see how it plays out Moore and Devlin in the upcoming games. I would like to see how they execute the Lazor offense.

Miller needs to show better hands if he didn't juggle that 2 yard reception he had 10 yards at least. He dropped it btw but nobody is going to challenge a 2 yard gain in that circumstance.

anyways i like what the offense is doing I just want to see better connection on deep passes to Wallace. Gibson looks good great sign

I hear you. The defense is going to spend a lot of time on the field, which is less time for Tannehill. And once an opposing offense cranks up a nice long drive, our D comes off the field for a few minutes, and their defense decides, let's stuff the run game and let Miami beat us in the passing game, and Miller can't get yards and it's third and long...it's not going to be pretty. Every effort has to be made to prevent that scenario.

Yes, the injury bug is getting us this year, didn't really last year much. As far as Clay, there's no guarantee he can repeat his performance last season, although we do need him.

Hopefully if we can pump up this offense, and speed it up, because it's really not that fast yet, we can compensate for the fact that we don't have any great RB's right now. Next year that's what I want, a premium back.

Me too. I don't think you can really judge the offense after Ryan left. Lobo would probably never get a snap if either of them were healthy.
Regardless of the offensive scheme it's about execution. Nice to see that out of our first unit.
Keep in mind this is probably a very vanilla version of what we put on the field opening day.
All camp the players and reporters have talked about shifts and motion plays and for the more part we saw little of that last night.

I don't know that it's the vanilla version. From beat writer tweets, it's what they've been seeing in camp.

And I remember that one play where Tanny had the read option, rolled out and was going to run, then had to throw it to the sideline because he was going to get slammed, and the play really resulted in nothing because there was a man on his receiver, as well.

We need more up tempo, perfect timing, and TE's and RB's able to catch the ball and take a step to make someone miss, for this to finesse stuff to work.

I think Moreno is going to know how to execute this better. I don't have any faith in Lamar Miller, and Clay is our only proven TE, until we see more games.

If Matt Moore had played in this game, we would have won it going away.
Mr. Lobato(insert Mr Roboto music here) played pretty good considering his draft status and his first start. He is putting pressure on Devlin, who has done nothing in his years here.
The running game will not get in sync until the cohesion of the oline occurs, probably by the 3rd preseason game. Miller, Moreno, Gillissee and one of the rookies will be our players. Diane Thomas is a goner.
Wallace, Moreno, Hartline, and Clay are the play makers and none of them played. I think we should feel pretty good about the offense and oline at this point.

The defense looks horrible IMHO. We cannot get off the field...bottom line.
It is a continuation from last year. Bend and break is not a defensive mindset we should have. I am having doubts about Coyle and his scheme. Ireland didn't do him any favors trading Dansby and Burnett for bums Ellerbee and Wheeler.
We have some interesting prospects in Tripp, Jenkins, and the other rookie LB, but I doubt they can make much impact this year.
The suspensions of Jordan (he has done nothing) and Jones (huge loss) will likely cost us a couple of games.

Kyle miller looked good. I doubt he makes the team but I wouldn't mind if he did

I would trade Dion Jordan for SF's Carlos Hyde right now. He would be the perfect compliment to Miller and Moreno. Jordan is a bust (3rd pick) (just don't tell SF ..LOL)
Cut our losses and get the player who helps us this year. We have Shelby, Freeny, Fede...we have players that can rush the passer.
Trade Dion Jordan.

I'd like to see preseason game 3 to see more of the basic offense they'll run.

I'm also curios to see how the offense varies the tempo.

As I'm sure everyone knows, it's traditional to employ a basic game plan with the third preseason game.

T-Hill's looking good however.

That was the exception and probably what we'll see a lots of come the real games. Tanny on the move.
We'll know more when most of the starters like Clay get back on the field. i'm not as down on Miller as most and think he starts and Moreno is in on 3rd down and passing plays where he excells.

Your gonna get the most out of the eagles for jordan they want him more then anybody else would. With that said I'm not giving up on jordan a little premature for that
