I think that the Phins are not going after Manning, but are going to pursue Flynn and then go for best WR available in the draft. This lovefest for Manning will soon end when he picks a team not called the Miami Dolphins. I am thinking the Broncos since they have the cap space or possibly Tennessee. The Phins had to at least make a weak attempt at getting Manning because otherwise it would like they were not doing their due diligence.

So Flynn would be our guy... love him or hate him... he's familiar with the offense, he's young and he's worked with Philbin before. I think that was one of the major upsides to making Philbin our HC.

So with Flynn in tow, we don't bother to draft a QB this year... because we will already have our young gun. Moore would be the back-up. We can use some of the cap money to keep maybe Merling or get another DE in FA. Get our S in Reggie Nelson or CB in Richard Marshall and move Sean Smith to S. We will take a chance on Eric Winston for our OT. Maybe sign Laurent Robinson to upgrade our WR corp.

So then we may move up in the draft to get Blackmon or trade back and get someone who has value later in the 1st. Either way WR will be the first position they look at. Then we get our DT in the 2nd. Clay and Fasano will be our TE's btw and we won't draft another one yet.

So look at this way... we are finding people that fit the system with the "potential" of

Flynn/Moore > Henne/Moore
Winston > Colombo
Blackmon/Robinson > Marshall/ "scrub"
Nelson or Marshall > "scrub"

So that's me looking for the silver lining and seeing the coach has probably had some say as to who he thinks will be a good fit for his system. Also Marshall is not good for chemistry and would likely badmouth Flynn the first chance he gets. He's done it with Henne and Moore. Out with the old, in with the new WCO. It's about the system and finding the pieces for it. Not the other way around.

Blackmon is not falling to #8. The farthest Blackmon will drop is to #6, at that point the Rams will waste no time in drafting Blackmon so that their young QB has someone to throw to.

We just got 2 3rd rounders...Id say we can move up a spot or two.

Ive been hoping Trent Richardson gets passed by Tampa and falls to 8 and we could trade back with cincy to get some extra picks, but that was before this bad first day of free agency.
Now I think we have to make a move for Blackmon, Ireland already screwed up the drafting of another Okst WR. I think Tampa wants Richardson at 5, but I say you try to trade up to 5 and get Blackmon. Teams at 6 and 7 wont draft Richardson, so Tampa can still get their guy but get something extra.

What do u think it would take to move up to number 5? Our 8th pick and our newly acquired 3rd rounder?

Man I REALLY hope we don't get Flynn. Huge gamble and stinks of AJ Feeley 2.0. I'd rather even keep Henne than get Flynn. It's like someone once told me:

"Why would you leave your wife for another woman? With your wife you know what kind of issues she has. With a new woman you just have a whole new set of problems to figure out" haha

Plus Henne is 10 x cheaper. Ugh.

I'm amazed at how so many here are already giving up on Manning.

Those two 3rd rounders you are talking about are worth roughly 350-420 points max on the NFL Draft Value Chart.
That equals approximately the 16th pick in the 2nd round.

So for us to move up to the 6th spot, it's a 200pt difference. But I'm sure they'd demand more value for the likes of a Justin Blackmon. Plus St. Louis is already stacked up with draft picks, what they really need is a play maker.
