My thinking is maybe the Front office looks at Calvin Pace from the Arizona Cardinals to replace Zack. Pace has the size at 6-4 270 lbs that
Parcells likes. I realize he played outside in the past but he should be a for against the run in the middle.
From what I have read he has very good speed for a man his size, getting
7 sacks a 1 ff and int. Has anyone seen him play, and if so what is your opinion of him?

i thought he was a DE. i guess he was converted from DE to OLB. wasnt he picked in the top 10 and over terrell suggs in that draft? that was a headscratcher for me

Pace is a converted DE who plays OLB and is best suited to be such, so if they are moving crowder inside then I wouldnt mind taking a look at him.

Being in AZ, I saw pace play a lot. He siginificantly improved his play this year, but counting on him as our starting MLB, scares me. I also don't think channing is going to be the best MLB either. I think this position is going to get addressed in the draft.

No! What do you want? A faster Channing Crowder... we need somebody with the physical tools and a nose for the ball.

So Channing Crowder doesn't have physical tools or a nose for the ball? What does that even mean, really?

Yeah the cardinals traded their pick (which was terell suggs to baltimore) for two firsts
rounders that were Calvin Pace and Bryant Johnson.

Hindsight being 20-20, Suggs was the better option. Also being a huge SunDevil fan, I knew suggs was going to be awesome.

A ballhawk, someone who can make plays. Channing Crowder lets the play come to him he doesn't attack. We need an AGGRESSIVE smart ILB. How bout that?

Well there's no way thats completely true. Crowder wouldn't be in the Pros if he didn't attack the play. You learn that in grade school.

As for a ballhawk, well I can only name about 10 LBs in the league who are 'ballhawks'. You're asking for a lot there.

Yeah but we need something like that if we aspire to be a top ten defense sometime in the future.

Well what we should ask for are playmakers. We didn't have many to start and we just cut one. Crowder has been FAR from a playmaker. At LB right now we have 1 proven playmaker and that is Porter unless you count JT as an OLB and that is a stretch since he usually lines up at DE. I don't see him staying anyways - too small for Parcells unless he can truly convert to OLB. Then he would have the size but not really the speed. This D needs ballhawking playmakers - it's been awhile since we have had many!

For a while Calvin Pace was seen as a bust in the NFL, but that was until last year when he was moved to OLB. The Cardinals encorporated more 3-4 looks into their defense because of Coach Whisenhunt's roots in Pittsburgh, and Calvin Pace shined by putting up some sacks and making some big plays. I think it would be beneficial to our defense to bring a guy like him in. He would provide much needed depth at the OLB spot and give us another guy to get to the QB. He is a low profile free agent and would give us another LB to help make the transition to the Parcell's 3-4. Let's face the facts, we have ZERO depth at the LB position.

Once upon a time, we had an outside linebacker who was aging and moved inside. His name was Bryan Cox. Now it's time for Joey Porter to earn his money and shift inside to Middle Linebacker.

Please, Please, Please, don't waste another stupid pick on a linebacker. We still have Abe Wright and Kelvin Smith from last year's draft. We still have Pope from another draft. We had to cut "The Beast" Robert McCune last year, because our linebackers are so deep. NO MORE LINEBACKERS!

Joey To Middle Linebacker And Move Channing to the Out Side
