You know, I think it's time we give him a chance. There is too much invested in him to simply write him off. He is here for the foreseeable future so many fans are going to have to deal with that.
He came back too early yes, aside from taking those sacks he wasn't HORRIBLE. I mean he still had tons of life in his arm and all his decisions weren't bad ones.
I expect we see a resurgence in one CPep and I believe many fans will be surprised by his performance next season and naturally hop on the bandwagon (as a DolFan I can't blame you).
So cheers to next season and good luck to CPep.

I agree we have no choice. I hope me lives up to and beyond expectations. I dont see that as realistic secenerio but i hope so. my problem is with saban spending so much on getting him here and then watching him spend the season on the sideline rehabing. I wish i could have a deal like that. The NFL is a result orriented league, which he did not produce any. He owes the team money. We can thank Saban for cpep. This is one of the things of having a real gm in place im hoping is going to fix.

Did we need another thread for this? Why not put your opinion into the 4,675 threads on this topic? That being said, I agree with your opinion, but boy you can expect a couple hundred Daunte haters to come crawling out of the woodwork any moment now, INCOMING!

Well, the only HORRIBLE game he had was the one against the steelers. Other than that, he was good. A little more than okay. So I definitely agree with your post, especially on the bolded part.

We may have to keep him for another year. That doesn't thrill me, because I just don't think we'll ever see the Culpepper that put up crazy numbers in 2004, and that seems to be what alot of folks are hopinh for. Because of the type of injury he had, and given his playing style, it's just hard to imagine him excelling. But IF we have to keep him for another season, so be it. AS LONG AS we draft a young guy to groom. We HAVE to do this. There is no way as fans we can continue to have expectations for a team who seems stubborn about drafting QBs. This has been brought up before: In the past SIXTEEN drafts, we have drafted only three QBs, and none of those were legitimate NFL potential QBs. FAR FROM IT. They were drafted, more or less, to be camp bodies. I mean, how serious do you take Josh Heupel?

Even if the present team will include Daunte Culpepper (which to me is still in doubt), noone can possibly feel that he is the future of this team. He will be 30. He has had a significant injury to his knee. His last full season as a starter was poor and his limited time here has been bad. There is no way to argue that his best attribute is/was his mobility, and if he doesn't gain it back (and it's very unlikely that he will) he will have trouble being confined to the pocket.

When everything is considered, even IF we were to retain Culpepper this season, you've got to believe Miami has to get someone YOUNG in here to prepare to take the reigns sooner rather than later.

He needs another chance as my sig now says. He has too much talent to not see if he can be close to 100% by the start of the year. Lemon should do pretty well as a backup plan under Cameron. The guys in this draft aren't wowing any of the scouts to this point, so they may not be worth a high pick.

I don't care who he is or how much he gets paid or what he did in the past, if he can't move the offense downfeild any better than Cleo Lemon, I don't want to see him out there on opening day. I want to win. I want our best to chance to win the game playing at every position, including QB. I want to se winning football. Why is Mularkey still in our organization???????? This is a very bad sign. I'm not happy and my confidence in this coach and team leadership is shaken. MULARKEY DOESN'T BELONG COACHING DOLPHINS. And Daunte doesn't belong behind center unless something has drastically changed.

PHINZ RULE!!!!

culpepper will be with us for a long time you'll see he will do great this coming year!! i still belive he will take us to the super bowl he is a really nice guy i used to live 3 doors down from him here in Orlando until he sold his house and moved to miami area last summer:( go dolphins 100% true fan for life !!!!!!

I think Cam may be able to squeeze some life out of him. Mularkey was pathetic in his game planning and play calling and may have had a lot to do with his and Joey's failures.

At the same time though putting to much faith into cpep could be like ridding a sick or dying horse into the desert, If/when he goes down you go down with him and your stuck.

You are dreaming if you think a 30 yr old QB with a bad knee who relied on his mobility will be with us for a long time.

No way he will be here in the 2008 season his numbers jump way UP!

Of course you give him another chance. You don't give someone of his status four games and then wright him off. He'll be back next season and he'll be better.

30 year old QBs, especially probowlers or consistant good QBs (which will determine how much longer Daunte plays, his performance) can last a good 5-7 years. 30 is in the prime of a QB, I don't know why people think he's going to retire in a year or two.
