Now I hate the Miami Dolphins with a passion, 2nd to only Duke in my sports hatred list, but I figured I'd tell you guys what I know about a pretty talented Bengals team, since I just watched the Jets beat them today.

This is a pretty damn good offense, with Palmer looking pretty impressive in his first start. Chad Johnson is an animal, and is definitiely in the top of the 2nd tier of WR in the NFL, right behind the Moss, Owens, Harrison trio (maybe Holt too). Based on last year, Rudi Johnson is supposed to be a good back, but he didn't show me much today, averaging 2.9 ypc against an improved Jets front 7. The Fins game wasn't on by me, but with Chris Brown going for 100 yards on 16 carries, I'm guessing the run D wasn't too stout, but if Rudi doesn't have a better showing, he won't be too damaging.

Defensively, the Bengals are in some trouble. I would assume you guys saw what Martin did today (196 yards on the ground), and that was an equal credit to both him and and the O-Line. They made the holes, then he made strong bursts and acceleration. It seemed like 6 yards before any Bengal defender even touched him. Gordon is supposed to be the primary back now right? I'll claim ignorance about his ability, and I doubt he will match Martin's unbelievable day, but he should be able to come near the 100 yard mark against a weak Bengals front 7. In terms of the passing game, there was little pressure on Pennington, and he had a very effective game. He was also victimized by drops by Becht and Moss. Overall their D is in probably the bottom 10 in the NFL.

I will be rooting hard for the Bengals, but I'd figured I would tell you what I saw this week.

Peace

I guess we don't know yet if the Bengals' offense is that good or the Jets' defense is just that bad.

While it pains me to say it ( ), thanks for your input on the Bengals. It is nice to have a sense of how that went other than just the score and stats.

:roflmao: :roflmao:

Bengal's offense is pretty good. The only reason Brown had a hundred yards was 50 yard run where he should have been stopped after 3 yards.

BTW last year after the first game, the Patriots got their heads handed to them by the Bills. Look what happen at the end of the year. No one made the playoffs after one game, so calm down Jet fans.

I am sure my hatred for the Jets matches yours for the Phins but that was a very classy post and well appreciated (although I doubt everyone will). The point of being a fan isn't to isolate yourself from every other team's fans but to discuss (and argue) every aspect of every game.

I think the Phins have a good shot against the Bengals, our secondary usually eats young QB's for lunch and hopefully the addition of Robinson on teh D-Line will help out our rush defense. Our young offense could use a big game against their weak defense to gel and build some confidence as a unit. I think it will be a great game.

BTW the Jets looked good today...if their running game is that strong to go with a good WR corps and Pennington's accuracy they could be tough this year.

good post, I'm not too worried . .but i'm not entirely confident either. I just hope our offense can get the ball moving and let our defense rest.

Carson Palmer looked like the real deal...but then again he was throwing against the Jets...not very likely he'll repeat that performance against the Phins...

Palmer may not repeat, but you guys should realize this guy has a cannon and our secondary better not fall asleep. He can flat out hum the ball around the field. I watched the game today and he looked good for the most part, but you know how a rookie can be, good one week, bad the next. Well, this week he was good, here's to hoping next week he will be bad .......................

As much as I hate the Jets, I have to say that (the OP) was a great post. :)

The Bengals offense looked great today, but our defense definitely needs to step it up if we expect to win this game. The Fins are a good team defensively, but I just don't think they have the talent on offense to win next week. Feeley (or whoever starts for Miami) will have a tough game against the Cincinnati secondary and they will have to run the ball if they expect to win this one.

I may be a little biased, but I predict that Cincinnati will win 34-10, mostly because of our great offense and the Dolphins' lack of a consistent running or passing game.

Palmer had one good game against a weak defensive team, but I still don't think he is ready to be a starting NFL quarterback.

Kitna should still be the starter. He had a good season in 2003 and the only reason he was benched is becuase the coach felt he had to start last year's #1 pick.

You guys can rip on the Jets D if you want, but the run D was great. The secondary wasn't, but nor was it a complete disaster. Johnson had a 50 or so yard TD on a perfect throw by Palmer. It wasn't horrible coverage, but a perfect offensive play. The pressure was pretty good as well, so Palmer made some nice quick reads.

A little biased? You are talking about your offense like it is the '99 Rams. You put up some decent numbers against a below average defense. I can guarentee Carson will NOT have the kind of day he had today next week. The Dolphins defense has a history of teeing it up against young, inexperienced quarterbacks.

No way in hell do the Bengals put up 34 on our defense....

Not a chance in hell. I'd bet you my house.

And then I say...

You can't have one without the other... what on earth makes you think the Dolphins will allow 34 points against the Bengals...

No way !!! Your getting carried away their my friend. The Dolphin "D" is so much better than the Jets, and the secondary especially. Plus, you guys gave up a ton of rushing yards, and Gordan will be ready by next week, and Feeley will play alot better than Fiedler and you guys will respect his arm, that I know. If you guys do win, and I honestly dont think you will, it will be close. No way will you blow us out, and I think we win honestly ! :cooldude:
