Look, I have a great deal of respect for Henning, but the old dinosaur genes are starting to show something awful and I think it's about time we joined the rest of the NFL by installing a high powered offense. Personally I'm a big fan of getting Gus Malzahn for a few reasons:

1) He and David Lee know each other from their time at Arkansas.

2) He's done more than anybody with the Wildcat.

3) He's as much about about the run as he is the pass, which is rare from a spread offense guru.

4) His offense is a no huddle that's predicated on tempo (the ball must be snapped five seconds after the play clock stops and he has a series that demands the ball be snapped as soon as the whistle blows), which is truly unique in the football world.

5) Despite the massive confusion his offense causes with insane motions and formations, it's easy to learn quickly and has proven itself effective with inferior college talent (Auburn is average 500 yards of offense per game despite a thin and lack-luster recruiting base).

6) Monte Kiffin, an old NFL hand, has admitted that Malzahn's offense is extremely confusing, so imagine what younger DCs would be thinking going into a game against his offense.

Wow, no response? I was expecting defenses of Henning or someone piping in with a college coach that could be a good OC for this team.

Henning is fun to listen to during interviews, that's the only impressive thing i have noticed from him. (seeing as the wildcat came from David Lee)

I don't like no huddle offenses being run 100% of the time because it keeps your defense on the field way too much. I don't mind a change up to a no huddle for a series or two in a game, but not most of the time unless you have a super elite QB like Peyton Manning.

Hence Buffalo's defense getting tired late in the game against the Saints last week.. Their defense was exhausted and the Saints were running all over the Bills like they were standing still.

The Bills loss to NE in week one was the same. They were on the field for the whole game, and NE picked apart their defense in the end.

So that's twice that Buffalo's no huddle hurt their defense late in games because they were on the field all day.. They got killed twice late-- Once by the run, and once by the pass, in 4th quarters..... Accounting for their 2 losses.

I'm starting to dislike Henning because he can't make any good calls in the redzone.

I'm not crazy about running the no huddle all game. For obvious reasons. I am in favor of getting a new OC though if Henning doesn't improve. I thought he did an excellent job last season but this season he's left me cursing his name every Sunday. It sucks having to start all over though. If we fire Henning and keep the same terminology and plays and just become more aggressive then I'm all for it.

Ever since the playoff game against Baltimore, it seems like he can't call any good plays in crunch time anymore.

David Lee hated Gus at Ark.
Houston Nutt took away the play calling from Gus and gave it
to David Lee.
Gus is just a few years removed frome being a high school coach.
His offense will not work in the pro's.
Why would he and David Lee get along?

Oh yea...Auburn is overated.....Roll Tide

Well for high school coach we seem to be all in love with the wildcat that he brought to Arkansas. Malzalm is an innovative guy who is far from a one trick pony. Lee should love Malzahm since his wildcat idea got him alot of acclaim last year.

the playcalling is predictable and the plays are bad and called at the wrong time. Bringin in pat white and the wildcat when we have a rythm going. Defensive playcalling is bad as hell too. Both need to improve significantly if we want to start winning games.

In response to the no huddle wearing out defenses, the Colts (for example) often snap the ball inside of five seconds. The no huddle allows the offense to dictate tempo, but it doesn't force the offense to play faster.

As long as you have a QB that's comfortable running it, I see absolutely zero downside.

lets see what he does with henne over the next few weeks. still, though, look at what henning has had to work with in miami. a noodle arm qb, a qb with zero experience and a wr corp that doesnt exactly scare anyone. oh yeah and an inconsistent o line and not much of a threat at TE either. come to think of it the guy is pretty good for getting anything at all done with the talent he's been given.

As long as he doesn't call a draw in these two situations he's in:

1.) 3rd and short
2.) Under 3 minutes to play

How could you run a "high powered" offense when you had a quarterback with no arm and couldn't get the ball to most of the intermediate and deep part of the field (now you have a QB with no experience) and a bunch of wide receivers that wouldn't even scare a good college secondary. I can't believe how much production the coaching staff has gotten out of an offense so bereft of talent.
