Look, I have a great deal of respect for Henning, but the old dinosaur genes are starting to show something awful and I think it's about time we joined the rest of the NFL by installing a high powered offense. Personally I'm a big fan of getting Gus Malzahn for a few reasons:
1) He and David Lee know each other from their time at Arkansas.
2) He's done more than anybody with the Wildcat.
3) He's as much about about the run as he is the pass, which is rare from a spread offense guru.
4) His offense is a no huddle that's predicated on tempo (the ball must be snapped five seconds after the play clock stops and he has a series that demands the ball be snapped as soon as the whistle blows), which is truly unique in the football world.
5) Despite the massive confusion his offense causes with insane motions and formations, it's easy to learn quickly and has proven itself effective with inferior college talent (Auburn is average 500 yards of offense per game despite a thin and lack-luster recruiting base).
6) Monte Kiffin, an old NFL hand, has admitted that Malzahn's offense is extremely confusing, so imagine what younger DCs would be thinking going into a game against his offense.
