Let me start off by saying, this is my hope at the moment: PLEASE GOD NO TIM TEBOW. We will soon find out whether it's the football aspect or the social aspect that Ross truly cares about.

I had a conversation with someone today about the QB situation and he brought up a GREAT point. While the brass has given us virtually no reason to expect them to make the right decisions or that they even have anything remotely resembling a plan for the short and long-term focus/success of this team, I have no reason to doubt Joe Philbin at this point. Yet. And there HAS to be something to be said for Philbin not absolutely hammering home to the brass that it was IMPERATIVE to bring in Matt Flynn. Maybe Philbin knows something that we don't, or something that some do and an idea some are just hiding from. And that is, that maybe Matt Flynn just isn't that good. And for a guy that is still only 26 years old, and with the support he was receiving, we would be forced to commit to him for the long term. And maybe, just MAYBE Philbin felt that wasn't in the Phins best interest.

Adding to that is the fact that Ryan Tannehill is still out there for the taking in April. And maybe Sherman is convinced this is our guy, and he was able to convince Ireland, Philbin and Ross that this was the way to go, then I believe him. Mike Sherman is a very good offensive coach that's been around the game for a long time, and if he thinks Tannehill is the way to go, then I would prefer him over Matt Flynn any day. Because for all we know, we are getting a more athletic, stronger-armed, younger version of the Packer's long time backup that won't be expected to come in and start right away. One that we can mentor for a year or two until he is comfortable with running this offense and until our coaches and Sherman feel he is ready.

Those are my thoughts on the Dolphins QB situation as it stands right now. It seems like a dark time for most Phins fans right now, but I truly believe it's not as bad as some are making it seem and that includes the media and the usual panicking Dolphins fair-weathered fans. It sucks we missed out on Peyton, I'll give you that, but Alex Smith sucks and Matt Flynn is still a backup-level player until he proves different, if he ever does. The situation isn't that bad and isn't much different than it was before the Peyton saga began. The world is not going to end. The draft if coming soon, which means new hope is coming. Let's keep that hope alive. For now anyway. :)

I guess you think Cleveland will not draft Tannehill and JAGS wont trade their pick to someone else ahead of us.

Maybe this and Maybe that. Our Fallback options are almost all gone. GM should double down on QBs in this draft. Swallow his pride and take QB in the first round whether Tannehill or Weeden in that order.

Seriously, Tannehill in Top 10 is just dumb! The guy may eventually be good but he was a WR for Christ sake! Stop it already, I know most Dolphin fans are fair weathered but can you blame anyone when all that is circling is how big of a joke we are and that its the management that scares players away from playing in a Sunny, beach state with no income tax? We are a joke right now and it is a shame to see how far we have fallen.

When Fisher chooses the RAMS over Miami, it says it all.

Tannehill may be the guy. He may be a great investment and lead us for years and years to come. But he won't win us a Super Bowl next year. Bottom line. That's his biggest fault as of right now. No matter what and how great he may some day be, fans want a Super Bowl right now, and he will not bring that.

There is no one other than Cleveland that would take Tannehill that high in my opinion. And while they do worry me a bit, I doubt they take him at #4 and I don't see any other teams willing to give up the ammo need to get into the top ten to jump us and take him. I'm just hoping for the best. And even if we trade down and get Weeden, I think that's still a pretty solid option for us, as do many experts, including CK.

Manning was the only way we would have contended for a championship this year. Flynn is just as much of an unknown as a rookie QB like Tannehill, and anyone that thinks that Flynn was taking us to a Super Bowl THIS year is beyond delusional. Playoffs maybe, but so could a rookie QB, you just never know. That's the point. Either way, you're taking a chance, a big one.

The draft is where you build your team. Free agency is mostly to add depth. I like that philosophy and see it working in Green Bay, New England and other places. Sure, if a great player is there in free agency you at least take a look and sometimes make the move. Miami fans are just so impatient and losing on Peyton Manning definitely hurt as the Dolphins seemed early on as the favorites in the chase. That said, Miami has to get the draft right. The team can't afford to miss on a quarterback as we're in the chase mode with all the other teams in the AFC East. In the long run if the Dolphins make the right choice, fans will forget about all the other quarterbacks this team has missed on over the previous years. Winning will turn the fans back around.

Trade back IMO. You have to, we need to bring in as much talent as possible because we seem to strike out a lot but maybe we'll hit a few singles or a homerun after so many pitches.

I was listening to an interview with Jerry West a while back and they were talking about the draft (yes, the NBA draft, but still...) When asked if you draft for talent or need he said "early in the draft you take talent. You can't win without talented players, stars win championships. Later you draft for need."

I can't argue with that.

Couldn't have said it better myself. My only concern is that we really do NEED a Quarterback. And that if we don't take Tannehill, I'm not sure the other options are that great. Mayock and some of the other experts seem pretty high on Tannehill, and if so, who is to say taking the third best QB in the draft is a reach in the top 10. Especially if the OC has identified him as his guy and the one he needs to run his offense and one that can already run successfully without much of a learning curve if at all. I think in the draft, the needs and BPA have to line up. Yes taking BPA sounds nice, but teams like GB and NE can do it because they already have good teams in place. We have tons of holes on this team and you can certainly draft for need, while finding good players that fit those needs. The draft isn't an exact science. Every team and situation is different. We can say we want BPA, but then if the BPA is a DT every round, that doesn't help our team in the slightest. It's hard to say what's best for the team, we just have to hope the higher ups get it right at some point.

Sure, needs and PBA lining up is ideal, some teams do their best to ensure those get close. Now I'm not sure the cost for RG3 was worth it for Miami, we have plenty of holes to fill. I think it would be tough for me to watch us take a project QB due to need instead of an impact LB like Perry or potential star RB like Richardson just because they aren't our biggest need.

I see a good fit provided Tim agrees with the following and we get him on the cheap

I would trade for Tebow to be:

#3 QB
Wildcat FB/QB option… also a very good red zone runner.
#1 or #2 FB, I would place my bets that he would be a good blocker!
#2 or #3 TE

Personally I see him as a great FB better than Csonka and with the ability to pass several times a game.

Technically that would free up at least 2 additional roster spots for a designated DE/OLB rusher or a #5 or #6 WR/KR
