wow excellent idea for a thread and an even better list...

it's taking me a while but Tim Ruddy and Tim Bowens immediatley come to mind.... Timbo could edge someone out for a spot i think. OJ McDuffie, to outsiders atleast.... i bet most NFL fans have no clue who he was.

Great list. I question only one entry though.

With possible exception of the argument that one cannot truly appreciate greatness enough, I don't think Dwight Stephenson is underappreciated.

He has long been considered one of the best all time centers to ever play the game. Many consider him the best ever. If you google him you will often find him listed in the top 3. I am sure you have a reason for including him, so what is it?

Some of those are in the Hall of Fame.
Thats getting your due.

Jim Jensen is my second favorite Dolphin of all time right next to Marcus Vick.......just kidding. Next to Marino of course.

how come i didnt make the list lol

sorry OJ but ran out of time and had to leave the room..
OJ, Mcduffie , Tim Bowens and Ferrell Edmunds should all be on this list.
by the way how is mr OJ Mcduffie doing ? he was a really good wr . ist his numbers not much lower then Michael Irvin's ?
I thought Mcduffie 's numbers were darn good.

to answer the quetion about Dwight Stephenson, I put him here becase these guys are some of the miami players that have won awards but i havent been really aquainted with because i wass fin fan before the advent of the internet but i also had other intres back in the 70's . so I am afraid that I am just a sophmore when it comers to certain players and knowing much about them.
I wanted to try and learn more about these players because this is a big part of Miami Dolphin history.

what i find interesting is we had even more players win off the feild and on the field awards until saban took over .

When i saw Bob griese, my mind read Brian Griese and I almost exploded. Good thing I caught that before i posted... I need a vacation

I wanted to put more players on this list but i wasnt sure really whjo put on here because there are some real worthy contenders for this list.

i thought Lamar smith and trace armstrong along with hunter goodwin and jim mandich could of been on this list.

Stephenson is one of the top three centers of all time. His career was cut short by a "fluke" play by one of his best friends. He only played 7-8 years, but he could have played 15. If so, he would have gone down as the best of all time.

Marty Lyons played with Stephenson at Alabama. He hit Stephenson from behind, by accident, and did ACL damage to the knee. Jets will always suck but Lyons did not do it on purpose. Stephenson was awesome. Look at old tape of Marino...no one came close to him when Stephenson was at center.

Sorry for all the post...but I agree with Jensen at #1 and Manny Fernandz should move up the list. Fernandez owned the super bowl in 1972.
