Name 3 Good Things Ross Has Done as Dolphins Owner

3 Good things
Fired JI
Fired T.S.
Tried to hire Harbaugh

3 failed things: Not exhaustive by any means
Waited to long to fire JI
Waited too Long to fire TS
IMHO - Should have turfed Joe and started fresh (I think Philbin can still win but I would have clean slated)

Exactly right, couldn't agree more

In all fairness Ross was a 50% (not majority) owner in 2008, so he gets half the credit for hiring Ireland while Wayne gets the other half.
He Hired Ireland
he retained Sporano
he lets Aponte run the show

Ross doesn't know the business. He has good intentions, but does not know the business. He really does need a Czar in the worst possible way, and I'd be okay with Carl Peterson in that role. I don't know why Ross is resisting the idea.

But just read this when you have a chance: http://www.washingtoncitypaper.com/articles/40063/the-cranky-redskins-fans-guide-to-dan-snyder

It's hysterical. And sad. And it makes you realize we could have things so much worse.

he has great intentions and WANTS to learn the business but problem is and fans' problem is is that he doesn't know the business

fans would OUTCRY if Peterson was czar, even though it is sorely needed, Ross is they type that should just sit back and enjoy the investment but he wants to know his product and be mentally as well as financially involved with the investment

Kraft did put the right people in place to have a team reach the SB before Brady and he did tamper w/ Belichick to get him which in turn brought Brady. Kraft is the best owner in the sport.

How long had Kraft owned the Pats?

How long had Kraft owned the Pats?

before they reached the SB? he took over in '93 I believe and they made it in '96. he made the wise decision to strip BP of GM duties after 1995, w/o that move they don't reach the SB.

How does he get credit for not raising ticket prices when demand is steadily declining? That's fairly basic economics.

I'd virtually guarantee he'd raise them if he thought he could get away with it. If we have a successful season combined with a playoff win or two, don't expect to pay the rate from the prior season.

IMO, the best thing he's done is to demand public financing for the stadium patch instead of financing it on his own. If he paid for patching the thing, we're stuck with a hopeless venue for another 25 or 30 years.

I'm also glad that he threw a public fit after the legislature turned hm down, and launched the juvenile scheme of retribution, including some laughably inept campaign flyers. That was unintentionally a very good thing. I support anything to turn sentiment against Ross and prevent the patch. We have to focus long term and have confidence that the next owner will get it right, with a new stadium in a better area.

I'd also dispute the claim in this thread that most people love the new logo. I've asked many people around town, in various settings, and I can't remember one overboard positive reaction. The vast majority are close to neutral. Again, message board polls and posts aren't exactly the greatest barometer.

Donating the 200 million to Michigan instead of Michigan State was also a good thing. He got the name right.

I personally cannot name any, but I can think of three easy ones he could do which would help immensely:

SELL

THE

TEAM

Wrong thread. It says name 3 good things....I knew you woulndt be able to resist...

Not a big fan of Ross and this was a surprisingly impossible challenge. All I can really name is:

1. His willingness to spend.
2. There have been worse owners in history (does that count?)
3. ....

Not a fan of Ross but hell its not like he took football ownership 101. People assume because people have a lot of money that they will excel in everything they do and that's really not correct.

Three good things hmm
Okay I give up- I really tried

well outside of Robbie no dolphin owner has held tight to the pursestrings. Huzienga aggressively pursued coaching talent and was willing to spend to get the man that he wanted.
NO other owner was able to lure Saban to the NFL and many tried. He convinced Johnson to come back to coaching and many had tried. I kind of miss an owner who got out and got what he wanted instead of whatever we have here. Miami used to be a special place and now its just another job
