Below are the players that I feel are MUSTS for ANY all-pro team:

QB - Peyton Manning - he was the QB/Offensive coordinator for the best (regular season) team we have seen in over a decade. Numbers were down form last, but may have had a better year.

RB - Shaun Alexander - NFL MVP, Leading Rusher, set the TD record. Do you really have to say anything else

WR - Steve Smith - there were plenty of great WR's this year, but Smith was head and shoulders above the rest.

TE - Antonio Gates - as a TE, had numbers that rivaled the best WR's

CB - Champ Bailey - was already considered the best cover corner in football and had what was probably his best year.

K - Neil Rackers - FG record and missed only once I think.

There is a lot of wiggle room at all other positions....but these guys deserve it, no matter what criteria you want to use.

My stock fell on Alexander when he played so soft vs Washinton. He tends to do that vs hard hitting teams. It's not really about numbers either. Some guys still run hard even if they aren't gettting a lot of yards, but Shaun tends to go in a shell if he gets lit up a couple times.

But that is just how I feel about it. You are more than welcome to put him on you list. He is a great back. I just like a guy who runs harder when the yards are tough to get.

Tiki does get a lot of open feild yards but the thing that I like about Tiki, Warrick Dunn and Carnell Williams is that they aren't the biggest guys but the always run hard. They are more likely to wrap the ball up and try to get an extra yard or two than they are to just run out of bounds. Of course, I've seen more of Tiki, Carnell and Warrick than I have of Alexander, but the two time I've seen him this season I was not impressed. Admitedly those two games have happened to be his two worst games all year, or at least it seems that way, but that is what I have to go on.

Keep in mind, I mentioned that OUR lists should go beyond stats. Anyone can pull up the statistical leaders for each position and list the top two or three guys. That's easy. I'm talking about guys who influenced there teams in ways that go beyond stats. When Larry Johnson runs the Chiefs seem to have a swagger that they lack when Preist is in. There is no denying how Carnell seems to spark a fire in the Bucs in the 4th quarter of games. The energy that he brings gives the team an attitude that they are never out of a game (except vs the Pats:shakeno: ). In fact that the Seahawks seemed to play BETTER whne Alexander went down. I find that curious. When Tiki and Carnell struggled the Giants and Bucs got bounced. If Steve Smith doesn't go buck-nutty on the Bears, I'm not sure the Panters win the game.

But again, that's just my opinion. I'm not saying you are wrong for putting the single season rushing TD king on your list. I'm just saying that for my money, I want a back who can bring a certain attitude and swagger to my team, as well as dropping 100+ yard games on a regular basis.
