Nasty's Notes
Sorry I am getting this to you guys so late. I left directly from TC to Orlando... and didnt get to the computer till now. I also got there late, so I missed some of the beginning.
When I got there, the olinemen and dlinemen were doing 1v1 drills. It was great... and there was a lot of action. Keep in mind though, that these drills were done without pads.
Defense:
Soliai - I'm going to start with this guy for a reason. This guy is a monster. He was even more impressive this afternoon than he was this morning. He absolutly SCHOOLED Satele on one play leaving Satele grabbing at air. Soliai hit Satele with a quick bull rush and then whipped around in a furious spin move to get to the QB. Satele didnt know where he went. I've ever seen a big guy his size be so quick. He also owned Ingram on another play.
Holiday - Holiday looked very trim and in excellent shape. Also owned Liwienski once or twice.
Roth - Roth was actually pretty disappointing. He mainly just bullrushed his opponent... and got driven to the ground a couple of times. He needs to develop a move or 2. A spin, swim... whatever.
Porter - He absolutly blew by a RT on one play. Cant remember who it was... but it wasnt Shelton. He made a fake inside and did a swim to the outside... and the lineman barely even got a hand on him. He looked very good rushing the passer.
Rod Wright - Very impressive today. The guy looks like a full grown man... not some young semi-rookie. The guy is thick and solid. He worked Liwienski on one play, and Esera on another. Hadnot did a pretty nice job of blocking him on one play.
Will Allen - Picked off Green on a slant route. Nice break on the ball and good coverage. Him and Daniels seem to look solid as the starting CBs. I'm just concerned with CB depth and w/ our safeties in coverage.
Offense:
Satele - Other than the one play vs. Soliai, Satele was very solid during this drill. He held his ground and kept the dlineman in front of him. He is quick.
Vernon Carey - Was very solid. He was like a wall during the whole drill. He absolutly burried Bruce Mkristo on one play. He only got beat once, by Holiday... but Vernon was holding his right wrist after the play. He looked fine though, nothing serious with the wrist.
Beck - Like I thought, Beck was much more accurate this afternoon. For some reason, his passes were sailing on him this morning, as a lot of his passes were high. This afternoon, he had much more control over the ball. He also makes very good decisions.
Hadnot - He looked great. The best olineman of them all in the drills. He didnt get beat once. Burring and throwing people around. Guy was a beast today. I love him at RG. The only neg. he had when he was at RG were the false starts. But hopefully he should have that down by now.
Chatman - This guy really impressed me. I have not been thrilled about the idea of him as our #3 at all this offseason... but the guy looked good. Very quick. He had once nice run to the left, with a beautiful cutback to the right for a real nice gain (20-25 yards?). Then, the next play, he had a run to the right, and had another nice cutback to the left for about 10-15 yards.
DMartin - This is the first time I have ever seen him play. Athletically, the guy is impressive. He is pretty damn big... and very fast for his size. I was real suprised. He had a drag route to the left, caught in stride, and took it up the left sideline for a huge gain.
#80?? - Maybe Courtney Anderson? I dont know who he was... but he had to be a TE by his size. He had a nice catch and run for about 20 yards.
Well, thats all I got. Sorry I didnt get it to you guys earlier. Feel free to ask any questions. Hope you enjoy... :D
