Man was today hard! The list that I had made earlier with your requests combined with some of the people I wanted to watch amounted to 20 people that I had to watch. So I didnt quite get all of them. With only 2 eyes... it is hard.
Quick notes before I start. 2 people on the list didnt play today. Manny Wright and Stockar McDougle. Darius Tompson was lining up as the #3 with the first team with Booker as #2.
Here is the players I did get to watch though...
Ricky
Feeley
Gus
Jason Glenn (BenchFiedler)
Travis Daniels
David Boston
Vernon Carey
Wes Welker (Touborg)
Mare (Cannonboy)
Vickerson (SikOne)
Hadnot (Silverphin)
Y. Bell (Pink_Dove)
Crowder (Pink_Dove)
Darius Tompson (KPDolfan424)
Alex Holmes
Donald Lee
Booker (Agua)
Roth
Lance Shulters
Billy Parker
EDIT: And McMichael
OK people... get comfortable... this is gunna be long (not that any of you mind )
Ricky - This report will be long... so I am just gunna say Ricky looked the same as he has all week. Really good. So... Moving on...
Feeley - He was the better of the 2 today. Of course they were close... but I thought he had the slightly better practice. He just needs to work on his consistancy, because some of his throws and reads are just beautiful. And then sometimes the balls would sail over the head of a receiver. He mainly needs to work on his touch but sometimes it is really on the money. He had a great pass to a WR on a fly route. Perfectly thrown over the CB and away from the S over the WR's far shoulder. He also had a great pass to the corner of the endzone to Donald Lee and he threw it away from the defender. perfect again... but of course... the ball literaly went right through his hands. (I will rant on Lee later). He also had a great bullet throw accross the middle... threaded it through the D to Boston. Then he had throws that hit the ground a few feet infront of the WR or sailed over his head. Still locks onto his WR sometimes, but looked like he is getting better at it because I also saw him check down his WRs and purposely look off some WRs on some plays too.
Gus - He was also inconsistant today. Dont get me wrong though. He definatly had some great throws. Had a few nice TD passes. His shorter throws are better than his long balls. My main issue with Gus was that he seemed to not see wide open receivers. A few times there would just be a completely wide open receiver like Chambers burning the CB deep or someone making a nice cut and getting great seperation... and then Gus would throw it to someone else. I was kinda gettin frustrated with him. But dont get me wrong, he had some great throws... but one of the 2 QBs has got to become more consistant.
Jason Glenn - Watched him a little. I only saw him in passing drills but he looked good in pass coverage. He had a great diving pass deflection.
Travis Daniels - Looked like he did all week. Very solid. Even though his 40 times were poor he still has speed. Doesnt seem to have a problem keeping up with any of the receivers. Had some nice pass deflections as well.
Boston - Speed is looking good. Had a great fly route that Feeley hit him for about 40 yards down the sideline. Daniels was the one covering him, but Daniels was all over him. It was just a great play by Boston. There was nothing else Daniels could do... He was lineing up as the #1 with the 2nd team.
Vernon Carey - Showing no signs of slowing down. When matched up against anyone other than JT, Carey eats em up. He did great vs JT too. I am loving every bit of it! :D
Wes Welker - Ok... I am not gunna lie... I am normally not big on Wes as a WR. But for the first time I actually came away impressed. He had a good day. Made some nice catches including a diving one. Primarily lined up in the slot. They seem to be using him differently than a normal receiver. Besides some normal routes including slants, alot of his routes seemed to be ones that send him on outs or into the flats to get him into the open field a little bit and do what he does best... YAC.
Mare - In his kicking drill at the end... he did pretty well. If I counted right, he went 6 for 9 under 40 yards and 3 for 3 over 30 yards. One of the misses was because it got blocked.
Vickerson - He played alright. Definatly has potential but is stil a project. However I did see him make a great swim move on Hadnot to get in the backfield
Hadnot - The only time I saw him get beat was that Vickerson play. He is playin well. Had his head on a swivel at all times. You could really tell it was zone. If he had no one to block... he wouldnt leave his posistion and would keep looking back in forth for someone coming in his zone and would help out the C or RT if it was needed.
Yeremiah Bell - I actually didnt get a chance to see him much. The only play I saw him in was actually pretty cool. It was a confusion play (got me a little excited! never saw plays like this under Wanny!) Daniels was lined up at CB on a WR and Bell moved up in the box once the QB got under center. Then... as the ball was hiked, Bell ran out and covered Daniels' WR while Daniels dropped back into a deep zone playin saftey. VERY COOL! If we are mixin things up like that there will definatly be lots of turnovers this season!
Crowder - Still looks a little lost out there. There was one play where he went the wrong way... tried to recover and go the other way and ran into another LB that was gaurdin Alex Holmes. Basicly picked him and Holmes was wide open and caught the pass for around a 15 yard gain. Dont get me wrong though... you can just see the potential that he has. He is extremely athletic, and when he isnt lost, he is all over the play. Once he gets comfortable... LOOK OUT. He was practicing with the 1st team today when they lined up in the 3-4. From what I saw, he was lining up at the middle linebacker posistion.
Derrius Thompson - He lined up at the #3 with the first team today... playing mostly out of the slot. A solid practice. Had a nice touchdown catch from Gus.
Donald Lee - HE F**KING BLOWS!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG!! :yell::fire: Sorry... I'm ok now... anyway... last year I defended Lee and thought people were too harsh on him... but I will admit right now... You all were right... I was wrong (It dont happen often ) He dropped 4 passes that were easy catches... (those were just the plays that I saw... he might have had more!) they just went right through his hands... HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN MULTIPLE TIMES? Especially since some of the passes were so damn pretty and he went and f**ked up the play. OK... I need to move on before I throw my laptop.
Alex Holmes - He has played decent. He isnt blowing me away or anything, but as long as he is breathing he should get the #2 tightend spot not nesisarily because he is earning it... but because Lee looks like he is TRYING to get cut. Holmes caught fairly well today though.
Booker - Played well. Had some great catches today and I didnt see really any drops. Looking like the Booker I expected to see when we traded for him last year. Should be a great compliment to Chambers this season.
Roth - Is still struggling a little bit out there but really is tryin hard. I also saw him get a sack on Feeley which was encouraging...
Lance Shulters - Looked fine. Nothing spectacular but no real mistakes from what I saw. But I didnt actually get to watch him much because I couldnt figure out what number he was until half way through practice. But he definatly looked good for his first day here.
Billy Parker - I know.. you guys are like who? I was a little too at first, but he made some plays. for those who dont know... he is a CB. He made some great plays though! Was all over the WRs when I saw him and had some great pass defended. With our CB issues that was extremely encouraging! :D He isnt gunna start or anything even close... but it made me feel a lil better about the depth at the position.
EDIT: Also... I forgot...
McMichael - He look great today! Unlike earlier in camp... the past couple of practices he has been really involved. He had some awesome catches. Had a bobbled one handed catch in the endzone. He also had a nice catch jumping over a defender for a touchdown. If those plays happen durin the season... I would be going crazy!!
And Damion MacIntosh got injured... dont know if it was serious... It was either his ankle or knee... He walked off the field though... but he was limpin pretty bad...
Lastly... For DrAstroZoom who wanted to know how the different receivers were being used... Chambers and Booker were usually out wide. Boston was usually playing flanker also. DT and Wes Welker played alot out of the slot.
Alright boys... I need to go ice my fingers down... Hope you all enjoyed... It should hold you over until tomorrow when you need another fix... I will prob be at tomorrows camp also... If you got any questions... ask away...
