Nate Orchard doesn’t mind wearing many hats for the Miami Dolphins defense, be it as an athletic defensive end with his hand in the dirt or as a pass-rushing linebacker.

His versatility seems to be a perfect fit for the hybrid defensive scheme being run by new head coach Brian Flores and defensive coordinator Patrick Graham.

“I love the system. Patrick Graham knows what he’s doing,” said Orchard, who had 18.5 sacks for the Utes in 2014 and won the Ted Hendricks Award as the nation’s best defensive end. “He’s able to put guys in position to be successful and he’s doing that with me and a bunch of guys. He sees my skill set and what I can bring to the table, allowing me to stand up and have my hand in the dirt as well.”

Utilizing Talent!

Who would have known!

Seriously had ZERO IDEA this dude won the Ted Hendricks Award as the nation’s best defensive end in 2014.

Good news is he still looks (@26) sturdy/sound.

funny what coaching can actually do … even though we've been forced to watch it in NE for far too long …

it's nice that Gase can draw Xs and Os … but you need to do it for your team and the talent you have … not because you think its cute and then complain when your players can't execute.

we just need to get through this year … to lay the ground work for a brave new PHINS WORLD!! Wooo ….. it's finally gonna come …

5 career sacks in 4 seasons. 69 tackles and 9 TFL's, 2 FF, 5 PD's and 1 int. Only started 13 out of 38 games.

Played in a 3-4 in 2015 under Jim O'Neil , 2016 in a 3-4 under Ray Horton, 4-3 under Gregg Williams in 2017. In 2018 he played for Leslie Frazier in a 4-3 and then for KC, under Bob Sutton in a 3-4.

What has changed? It's only preseason so we will see in a few weeks. Sometimes it take a few years for the light to come on but it would be a stretch to project him having too much success in year 5.
