can someone confirm this info...my friend said that his coworker apparently said that hte nba playoff home court changed where the teams vsing eachother that round gets home court via the season series and not off of the standings.

As in if LA wins the west they dont get HOME COURT advantage throughout the playoffs like its always been but rather if they play a team that won the season series then that team gets home court in the series. can someone confirm that its still the winnter of the west gets homecourt throughout the first 3 rounds and not who won the season series.

Hmmm... that's a new one on me. I have not heard anything about that. Doesn't seem to make sense though.

Honestly, I haven't heard of any changes. And if they based it off season series, that wouldn't make sense.

Not like the Warriors got that special treatment last year against the Mavericks; they beat them in the season series and still didn't get home court, though they didn't really need it anyways.

But from recent years, division winners gets the first four seeds. That doesn't mean they get home court.

Now, if the division winner of seed 3 had to face seed 6 and the seed 6 had a better record than seed 3, seed 6 will get home court.

It mixes up with all seeds, and with the West being as tight as it is, you will see that mix up alot.

Like last year, Mavericks and Spurs, who ever lost the division lead despite having a better record than the 2nd or 3rd seed would end up with a 4th seed, though if the 4th seed advances and has to face the 2nd or 3rd seed, they would get home court over them for having a better record.

Seeding doesn't guarantee you home court, no matter what seed you are in. Season series, I don't know about that, but I highly doubt they would put that in the equation.

The season series comes into play only if the win/loss records are the same.
