Ndamukong Suh: By the numbers

• Since being drafted in 2010, Suh leads all NFL defensive tackles in quarterback sacks with 36. Geno Atkins (32), Marcell Dareus (28.5) and Gerald McCoy (27) round out the top four.
• Suh leads all defensive tackles in snaps (4,107) and disruptive dropbacks (50) since 2010. He is also third in tackles (238) at his position.
• With Suh, the Detroit Lions led the NFL last season in run defense (63.9 yards per game) and yards allowed before contact (1.51). The Dolphins were 24th in run defense (121.1 yards per game) and 28th in yards allowed before contact (2.96).

A lot of the numbers Suh contributes to will be seen in other players numbers. The play he will free up at LB. The better match ups Vernon and Wake will see since they won't get double teamed the entire game. The hurries and pressure the QB will be under and the rush defense improvements. A lot of what will be seen won't be seen in his stats, and I am fine with that. I don't love the $$$ but to get a player like Suh, in his prime, you have to pay to play. That and his contract should still help us this year in signing players.

If we sign him... I hope his first year contract has a HUGE cap number to help future years.

Miami needs #2 CB, #3 CB, FS, RG, LG, WR, WR, TE, HB, MLB, OLB.... Unless we sign a bunch of players that turn the corner quickly for us and have a draft that brings in starter material year 1, then Miami is not gonna have enough to win it all next year. So let't get his numbers down for future years to build around him on defense.
