Active Roster
I recently relocated from the West Coast where I was involved in working with Nike Football on their Marketing Campaigns. I received a phone call last week and the person on the line informed me that Nike Football is looking to expand into the South Florida area. Nike is usually very calculated in terms of when they make moves of this caliber. They've stayed away from Miami for a while now and it seems like they're looking to gain that back after being gone for so many years. With University of Miami switching to Adidas it seems like this would be the perfect time to get one of their major athletes in a big time market to get a head start on the marketing process.
Looking at our team from top to bottom, we don't have that superstar. On Nike.com there are 2 players that command decent jersey sales, Tannehill and Wallace. Bringing in a player like Ndamukong Suh has a lot of winning implications for the organization, Suh, and Nike Football. The organization gets that super star player that we need to sell seats and merchandise, Nike gets a big name player in the South Florida market to boost their marketing campaign (along with the boost in merchandise sales), and Suh gets a fresh start in Sunny South Florida where he'll be the face of the franchise not overshadowed by Megatron. I think it's a win for everyone involved and I'm sure Nike has contacted his agent Jimmy Sexton about this move and even thrown money into the equation to get him to sign on the dotted line. I think the deal gets done... and soon.
