KFFL just reported that the Tacoma Tribune said the Patriots got the #24 pick in the draft from the Seahawks for the Deion Branch trade. I thought Seattle gave up a 2nd rounder for him. Can anyone straighten this out? If NE has 2 first round picks AGAIN, we are in trouble.

It was definitely Seattle's FIRST for Branch, so yes, NE has 2 1st round picks!

And it just keeps gettin' better, doesn't it? LOL

They're management is never slouching. You've got to give it to them.

They got the 1st round from deion and 3 extra picks due to loss of FA adam ,willie mac and givens who signed bigger contracts. adams pick can be as high as a 4th rounder if he goes deep in the sb run and other 2 are expected to be 5th rounders.
total picks : 10
They having traded a 5th to raiders for doug gaberial but then gained the conditional 5th rounder they got from arizone for gorin trade as he played the minimum % of plays.

Pioli knows how to handle his business, he's the real genius in New England.

Sucks to be me. Pats are the class of the NFL and are in our division. Dallas Mavericks are the best in the NBA and they're in my Spurs division too.

Why can't we be in the NFC?

the Pats aren't going anywhere next year, this year they made the playoffs dispite little talent. next year they won't even have Asante Samuel who is by far their best player on D, I don't care if they have two 1sts they are both late in the 1st and they won't find a corner close to Samuel's level there

Oh, please, face reality! Didn't you homers sing the same song last season, too?

Every other year, the Pats seem to have an extra first rounder -- and they don't seem to waste those, either! They don't have "little talent". They don't have a lot of "big name" talent, but they have great talent for the system that they play. The Chargers had all the pro bowlers, but they were sitting home watching the AFC Championship, and it took every bit of talent Indy had to beat them on Sunday.

Until somebody beats 'em, the Pats remain the class of the AFCE and one of the best teams in the AFC (which means they're probably better than any of the NFC teams!). You can dance around all you want singing "Hey, hey, the witch is dead" because the Pats lost to Indy, but that doesn't make it so.

The Wicked Witch of the East is still gonna be nasty next season so stop fooling yourself thinking otherwise.

I do not understand the whole little talent can you explain this please.

yup if you take top 5 players in a top nfl team they might be below but rtry comparing all players 1-53 and tell me they are less talented. They pay the most money for players from 26-53 and have excellent backups .Harrion/eugene starting safeties lost early and they played their backups and when 1 went down his back up and still own 12 games and 2 playoffs.
They lost LB`s and were playing their backup`s-backup safety at LB for the colts games by the way.
Same with running game dillion and faulk went down early and were playing their backup-backup heath as FB for the last quater against the colts.

Its foot ball i know that injuries occur but when colts needed every ounce to beat a team playing their backup to backups [baker, rashid at DB] how can you say its less talented?.

young starting DL - all set with green and wright as backup .Signed till 2008 .every 1 around 25.
LB- ILB brushi might have seau back but need a draft pick and FA
OLB- Colvin/vrabel/Draft another 1 or resign TBC[27yr] Colvin and vrabel are 30.
DB-Asanta is the only FA , they got decent DB -6 of them with a few in IR.
SAferty- Harrison/eugne/hawking/sanders/chad -all signed eccept harrison and hawking every 1 around 25.

OL - All signed till 2010
QB-2010
RB-They need to replace dillion with a stud down hill power runner.
WR- Same crew with Chad jackson stepping in and need to draft another.
TE- Sign graham and have watson/thomas/millis [signed through 2009to 2010]

Now they have 10 draft picks and 6 of them top 4 round who tend to be starters and then 20 million in cap room .so you think they cannot get LB help and CB/Safeties and a WR with that 6 picks and 20 million for FA?

Well put. It sucks, but it's true. They've really got things figured out.

maybe I should rephrase myself, they have no big name talent and have some major holes. no gamebreakers at WR and no good cover corners outside of Samuel who they might lose.

my point is that they keep letting too many talented players go and are obviously missing their presence, while they are still good they don't have talent to win the superbowl again at least not yet.
