Negative Reflection on Fin Fans

We've had 5 losing seasons this decade. 2004 was our first losing season.. so it's not even a decade of futility. Merely 7 years? So losing has eben recent.. not life long.

From 1988 through 2004 we didn't have ONE losing season. I guarantee you ANY franchise would DIE for that type of record.

People are jumping off the cliff because we're going through a rough patch.

We'll get it cleared up. We have a new owner. Let's see what he does, because right now he hasn't made single move..

And before people want to bring up the Harbaugh ****... This forum was on FIRE in support of him when his plane was en route. So crying like a baby when Harbaugh didn't join the phins is moot.

Nothing reeks of bandwagon-ing than that.

Just goes to show you how spoiled we are. How many years did we have winning seasons with Wanny? I think we'd all would've been happy with at least a 9-7 season. How many real losing seasons have we had since 2003?
It's not about winning seasons, it's about making the playoffs and that happened twice under Wannstedt...2000 and 2001. In 2002 we missed the playoffs on the last game, 2003 we missed with two games to go and 2004 he quit. He progressively got worse during his time here.

Yeah the long time Dolphin fans are spoiled, no doubt. We had 26 years of Don Shula...that will do it to you.

i hope the jets demolish us.
i hope tebow beats looks like manning against us.
i hope we lose every game by 50 this year.

i love this team and i dont care what yahoos from other cities think of me

Taking on the persona of actually hoping for losses is something you won't ever outlive. EVER.

Once again, I have to pose this question, have you personally ever seen Luck play? I've asked this question no less than 12 times and haven't been told that "Yes, I have, I know exactly what and who he is".

I find it mindboggling and actually very troubling that an entire fanbase would hope for losses for a media led promise.

Once again, IF we end up getting Luck, better hope he pans out immediately or our entire fanbase will never hear the end of it.
We are not the only team rooting for losses. I have heard a number of Denver fans call in to NFL Radio begging the Broncos to lose so they can grab Luck. The owner of the Colts basically said he's OK with losing when he said they would take Luck if they had the #1 pick. He never mentioned in his interview how he wanted the team to win, he instead references Green Bay and what they did with Favre and Rodgers and how he would like to do the same...that to me is an admission that you want to suck for luck...from the owner.

There really isn't a fan base of the bottom 5 teams that isn't wanting to suck for Luck. Minnesota fans that I've talked to want to suck for Luck...without even giving Ponder a look to see how he can do. Arizona fans despite trading for Kolb want Luck. Dolphin fans may be the most vocal or the most talked about but we're not the only ones chanting suck for Luck. Look around.

And by the way, I have seen Luck play and he's all that and a bag of chips.

ou do realize we missed the playoffs in 2003 with 10-6 record right? The year before with a record of 9-7 right? I've seen many teams recently make the playoffs with records like that.

If we had a 10-6 record last year and missed the playoffs would you still whine about how much we suck..

Stop making excuses man. IT IS about the record.

We missed the playoffs with a 9-7 record...we were 9-6 going into a game with a 9-6 Jets team and we lost, at home and the Jets got in...that ticked the entire fan base off especially me. The season we went 10-6 we were knocked out after losing to Philly 34-27, at home and then we lost to the Jets on the last game of the season again...a 7-8 Jets team.

And you know full well that when we don't make the playoffs around here we wish we would have lost more games so we can get a higher draft pick. People want the best of both worlds. My concern beyond Luck is that we've fostered a culture of losing and it's going to be hard as heck to get out of that.

Dolphins fans have been embarrassed by this franchise and now it's time to embarrass them. Suck for Luck isn't really any different than showing up to a game with a bag over your head. Nobody wants this team to be awful, but it is awful. You can deny it and hope for 6-10 all you want, but it doesn't change anything. This team will win or lose regardless of what we the fans do. We didn't build this monster we just showed up with pitchforks and torches to bring it down.

Fans are missing the point.. It's about the fans.. not the team. Our home field is a joke because of the lack of support. Not because of opposing fans buying tickets. Not because of the heat. Excuses can only go so far. It's one thing to want a winning.. it's another thing all together to tank on your team when only 4 games have been played.

Sure we may attract coaches.. maybe not.. It's a poisonous situation. If he doesn't deliver immediately, he gets flame roasted too.

Andrew Luck? I sure as hell wouldn't come here either the way we've thrown our players under the bus. And yes, players can dictate where they go. So all this suck for luck doesn't guarantee anything.

There simply isn't any support for this team anymore. People are roasting an owner who didn't create this mess. Just blaming anything and anyone blindly like a lynch mob at the Salem Witch trials.

Every team goes through a down period. But the real sad part is when the fans make jokes out of themselves.

There isn't much for us to defend anymore. When someone comes here and says Dolphin fans suck... we may have to agree.

The sad part is.. FH used to talk about the players, plays, games etc... noow all we're talking about is how bad we can suck, for a player that has no guarantee of being anything.

Makes me believe that people will buy anything shoved in their face.

I have rooted for this team (MY team) EVERY single play of EVERY single game for the past 30 years.

Even though I cheer them on (to the point I lose my voice for a day after home games), I have become indifferent to the losses.

Yes, I am on the Suck-for-Luck bandwagon.

We have become the AFC version of the Detroit Lions. If hoping we finish out the season in last place and have a REAL shot at getting Andrew Luck, a possible light at the end of this dark tunnel we are trapped in, makes me a bad fan, then so be it. I know in my heart I love this team, even though they don't love me back, and that is all that matters.

If any of you are parents, you understand. It's called tough love. Sometimes you need to be hard on someone you love in order to make them stronger.

Aside from Chad Henne, Pat White, and John Beck we have started NOTHING but other teams cast-off QBs since Dan Marino retired. Is it asking too much for this team to invest a draft pick on a consensus stud QB?

I am tired of losing seasons, or one-and-done playoff appearances. One more season of losing isnt going to kill me. (Even two more, assuming Luck needs time to develop)

SUCK-FOR-LUCK,
**** What the media thinks,
**** What other teams fans think.
(After all, the biased media loves to hate on the Fins. They WOE the day that their media darling Patriots, Jets, Cowboys, etc... lose coverage time to the Miami Dolphins.)

If we had the guy coaching in your Avatar all you wishes would certainly come true...

Exactly... a culture of losing over a mere 5 years span... how quickly people forget.

Just wait when we don't land Luck, and peoples heads implode!

How many losing seasons before we can start getting upset? It's not the culture of losing that worries me it's the culture of mediocrity is ok that bugs me.

You're probably right. If we don't have the #1 pick we won't get Luck. I don't see whatever team has the #1 pick trading out of that spot.

In the last 10 years we've made the playoffs 1 time...don't think it's only been 5 years. If you end up at 9-7 or 10-6 and don't make the playoffs it's a losing season in my mind. What's the difference between 7-9 and 10-6 if you don't make the playoffs? Only your draft position and that's it.

Just like Detroit, no one will remember or care about "Suck for Luck" if our team gets it turned around and becomes a contender in 2-3 years.
