Well I figure I should do the honors of starting a pessimistic thread after a great win.

DEFENSE:

Third and long - Whether its 3rd and 10, 3rd and 16, or 3rd and 22, I view it as an automatic first down

How can we manage to give up a first down on 3rd and long nearly everytime? Its always a penalty, a great catch, or bad coverage. I feel safer if its 3rd and 3 as opposed to 3rd and 20.

Pass Rush - Where was it? Maybe we were close to two sacks all game. Sanchez had all day and consistently was able to step up in the pocket into this throws.

OFFENSE:

Didn't see many negatives at all, obviously. Finally Henne had the balls to stretch the field and we made a big play. I think we will see more of this to come.

Oh and as good as a game that Ronnie had, 21 for 74, I think thats the first time in his career he's had 20 rushes for less than 100 yds!! Certainly didnt look like it last night but theres something for Jets fans to hang their hats on.

ST:

Cobbs at KR, come on now. Every now and then someone brings it up that its a bad idea but jesus everyone was on Ginn's *** for getting to the 20 and going out of bounds. Atleast its better than the 15, we need Ginn back there.

Overall obviously a great game and most of those third and longs and such should not of happened if we stopped their fake punts or they didnt fake them. The D really needs to get things together though down the field.

...

I agree... its so hard to watch our defense in clutch situations... I'm always scared the opponent gets a first down

The pass rush wasnt so bad...

It will be ignored based on the result, but one major negative is how we completely botched the understanding of probability after our final TD.

Before we kicked the extra point I was screaming, "Don't squib kick!" It was the only way the Jets had a fleck of chance with 6 seconds remaining, if we were stupid enough to squib kick short and they were bright enough to run close to midfield and then get down, leaving time for one more play. I was absolutely livid when it played out that way. Luckily the Jets return man played it a bit too conservative and dropped about 3-5 yards quicker than he could have, leaving 3 seconds instead of 1 or 2.

Along with 3rd down screen passes, squib kickoffs are the most worthless play in football. I swear the coaches must never study situational trends or those two plays would never exist. I can understand squib kicking with 1 or 2 seconds remaining. Otherwise it's pure masochism. If we kick it deep the Jets can lateral to their content, or perhaps hit the turf and allow one play from the 10 or 15. Either way, the odds of success are exponentially lower than a Hail Mary from near midfield, which brings all type of variables into play, including our shaky DBs, a great leaper in Braylon Edwards, and the potential for another cheap hankie.

Sorry for the rant. But that's one of my ultimate pet peeves, coaches who fail to grasp situational truths and needlessly put the team in more jeopardy than warranted.

lol.....he right, there weren't no negatives last night....and if there were, then the positives out weighed them

The only major negative I can think of is our safeties are not doing their jobs.

I give Davis and Sean Smith a free pass cause they are rookies and have been holding their own for the most part.

If we had decent safeties we would be 3-2 and in 1st place right now

honestly the only positive from the defense was the three down linemen. the linebackers inability to get good pressure, and the continued trend of missed tackles.

the offense on the other hand, i can't think of a single negative. the offensive line was outstanding all night. a few penalties on grove but he was over due anyways lol
