New Jersey blames referees after late loss to Pistons

clear.gif

Nets coach Lawrence Frank, left, upset when no foul was called on Detroit's Rasheed Wallace during the Nets' last possession, is restrained after their 92-91 loss to the Pistons.

For most of Tuesday night, the Detroit Pistons were angry about the officiating.

In the end, though, the New Jersey Nets were the ones screaming.
Chauncey Billups made two free throws with 7.2 seconds left, and Vince Carter didn’t get a last-second call as the Pistons won their fifth straight, 92-91.

“We come to work, and we work extremely hard at this, only for the officials to screw us,†Jason Kidd said. “We fought, but that doesn’t mean anything when you have the officials take over the game like that. You go with the Three Blind Mice, and it’s just sad that Tom (Washington) screwed up that game for us.â€Â
Billups, who missed nine of his 10 shots from the floor, was fouled by Carter on a fast break after Kidd missed a 3-pointer that could have clinched the game.

Not that I can disagree. I don't know about that particular game, so I won't speak on it.. but everyone knows that aside from San Antonio, nobody gets more calls than Detroit (aside from plays involving Rasheed Wallace).

But San Antonio far more than Detroit.. San Antonio gets the New England Patriots referee treatment.

I hope you prepare yourself for a long long debate, as I bet these people are going to start complaining about Dwyane Wade in this topic.

But I agree, San Antonio does get the Patriot treatment.

it never ceases to amaze me how a team like the Pistons...a team that exclusively shot from the outside last year, a team that was last in the league in points int he paint...GOT THE MOST FREE THROW ATTEMPTS IN THE LEAGUE.

Nevermind that they set about 8 to 10 illegal screens a game and that Lindsey Hunter's idea of defense is slapping your wrists till your hands fall off.

I just saw that play and WOW.. that's one hell of a bump.

If that was Billups, Rip, or Prince.. EASY CALL for the refs.

And everybody knows this point is moot....Check the stats.SA doesnt go to the line as much as most of the teams in the top half of the NBA.AND shoot a terrible 74.7 percent. Not like the Spurs benefit from FT shooting to win games.http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/stats/byteam?cat1=Total&cat2=team

The funny thing about this is that when the foul occurs you see like 3 people on the Nets bench yell foul and then when VC misses the shot they decide to go crazy about the no call. If he would have made the shot it would have been all good but since he missed the shot it was a bad call!

Spurs average 23.3 FTs a game. That is 27th in the league out of 30 teams.

Please explain how this is the Patriot treatment. Thanks a bunch

Denver, Washington and Sacramento are 29.5 FT attempts a game and up. San Antonio is 27th in the league in that stat.

So again, please explain how we get more calls. Thanks
