Everybody seems to be complaining about our LBs, but it seems like they are always putting the worst ones out there like paysinger and butler when we have hewitt and hull only playing sporadically, am I wrong? It seems like hewitt and hull should get a full game out there playing alongside kiko, move kiko out im guessing?

Can anybody let me know if they've only been getting sporadic reps and how they've been doing? Seems like vance can't make up his mind on his backers, while I think these two have pretty good potential, what's your guys opinions on them/this situation?

Butler isnt bad but paysinger is terrible, not sure why hewitt who has been pretty good isnt playing over him. Might be a playbook issue? Maybe he only understands certain formations.

Butler I rarely see him on plays on the field. What are his stats.

Coaches watch these guys practice. They know what they do well.

I get the premise that if you don't show in practice, you shouldn't do it in a game, BUT the simple truth is Kiko is worse than ZT at blitzing or in coverage ... he is even worse in tackling!! Exactly what is he bringing to the defense? Calling plays .... nice ...

Butler hasn't done anything either .... period. Terrible ....

Who cares if either of them 'understands' the defense, is a veteran, and can maybe be in a position to make a play -- when you simply can't make them ....

The youngsters did 'ok' against ARI ... and this will be fairly similar .... maybe one of them can make a play ....

it just seems to me like hewitt and hull do good when they are played but are played sporadically, reminds me of sparano/philbin where every starter had to know everything in the playbook or they couldn't play no matter how bad they were or how good the youth sitting on the bench was, it seems like we have seen this so many times with these past two regimes and their youth is wasted sitting on the bench in favor of shooting for mediocrity.

Hewitt and Hull remind me a lot of ajayi who i thought last year was gonna be good just because when he did play he always played with such intensity and drive, you could tell he was special, but because he didn't have insane numbers because he hardly ever played so many people seemed to think he sucked, then when he finally gets a chance to play, look what happens, even with a broken oline for most of the season.

It's like if you're not 10 feet tall, 3000 lbs and the speed of light or not a vet you're not worthy of playing for this team, this kind of mindset is whats killed this team for so long, not believing or having faith in our guys and suprisingly a lot of times when they go elsewhere they all of a sudden are really good players, the players dolphin fans have usually loved the most are the intangible guys like czoncha, zack, landry, so why not give the youth with lots of upside and require some risk to start a chance instead of just starting players who suck and killing our future?

We wouldn't even know ajayi, lippett and howard were good if we just stuck with crappy vets the whole time.

If you are waiting for anyone to play like Zach Thomas you got another thing coming.

I like the what both of these guys give vs the run, but they are both limited players in pass defense. Then again, it's almost the flipside of what the current crew gives in being dead last in rushing yards per attempt.

I hear you but players were cut this year and or let walk in free agency which created opportunities. At linebackers Msi and Jenkins are out thus opportunity now maybe the wrong backup is getting the opportunity. Of course is being in position more importantly than tackling and that is debatable.

Hewitt played a lot in our first game against Pittsburgh, maybe he'll be in there. 24 and 20 had good games against the Steelers and now they're both on IR. Maxwell balled, it's important that he's in the line up. We went to Parker often, ran Ajayi all day and moved Tannehill outside the pocket quite a bit. In rewatching the game we matched up very well in the trenches. They couldn't block Wake or Branch and Phillips is the one who injured Big Ben. We held the Steelers to 15 points and Big Ben only missed a little bit of game time. Huge difference is that we have to play up there in the conditions but that means playing some smash mouth Football. Not sure I agree with Pittsburgh being favored by 9.5 but I'm not as smart as the Vegas bookies. Last game we held Brown and Bell in check, I guess they don't think we can do that again. We'll see pretty darn soon.

I agree with this and hull and hewitt seem to have a lot of instincts which is pretty important because the guys in there outside of kiko now have none, sure they're not sam madison in coverage but i'd much rather develop young talent and put good lbs in there that are good against the run and more risky vs the pass with instincts than two other lbs that are pretty much bad at everything else and slightly better in coverage, at very least the better decision to see what we have for the future, no point in developing guys for a couple years if like phintim said a couple guys go down and you have the perfect opportunity to play them and you don't.

Might as well not even develop talent if you're not gonna take the chance on seeing what you got, can't find lippett, ajayi, and howard if you don't play them, or for that matter zach thomas, one of the all time greats most people wouldn't have played simply because he wasn't big or fast enough, gimme a break, football is about the intangibles, not about measureables, nobody proved that better than zach.

While I'm sure Gase wanted to win the game last week against the Pats, I'm thinking that he wasn't so concerned about it that he put all his cards on the table. A lot was going to have to happen in order for us to jump to the 5 seed. So you would really want to save thing for the game plan for the next meeting (ya know, the Pats SECOND BYE WEEK). It was great to see the team come back, but then the Williams "teaching moment" about ball security ruined that drive. Maybe Hull and Hewitt will have an expanded role in the game plan on Sunday. I'm hoping we can see Moore have a "JETS" type of game vs the Steelers.....I can dream can't I?

The guy really has something against Kiko. I honestly don't understand why.
