New 4-3 D look for phins?

koa misi has all the technician stuff you want but JT has the awareness =/ i play nickle sub all day with reshad jones and dansby as the LBs, Wake and Misi (sometimes alamafrancis) at ENd, and then i usually use starks and soliai in the middle or langford over soliai for the speed or odrick on occassion, i also chuck odrick to DE over misi on 1st downs,

usually roll in the cover 3, pinch the line, spread the linebackers and go into press coverage, its a pretty tight defense, can get a little soft over the middle but dansby and reshad usually make the tackle if they let a pass up. the crossing routes hurt me, but i dont get beat by all the screens and flats that people run, and no1 has enough time to really chuck it down field. definitely works against the run, i may let up small yards at a time but usually offenses will make a mistake or turn it over before they get all the way down field
 
we definately would have to overhaul our linebackers because Dansby would be the only keeper for 4-3.
 
Lets keep K. Dansby get rid of the rest and sign some speedy vets who can play with some damn passion.
 
FYI: Phillip Merling was damn good 4-3 DE at Clemson.

This alignment would get run on for 200+ yards a game.

In a 4-3, you want your DEs to be around 280-300 lbs.

Wake is not great against the run.

In fact against San Diego I saw Trusnik in a lot on 1st and 2nd downs and then Wake would come in just to pass rush on 3rd downs.

That is true.

But even though they show a 4-3 look, the DL still has two gap responsibilities.

In your basic 4-3 defense, the DTs and DEs are responsible for one gap and try disrupt the play by getting up field.

In the 3-4 alignment with Wake on the line, our NT and DEs are still responsible for two gaps and not trying to get up field right away.
 
we have some of the most athletic linebackers... I dont know what you are all talking about. we are better suited for the 4-3 because we could have odrick/ starks, soliai/ langford.. you could strip merling down from that excess weight, and he would be a monster at d.e. I'm telling you, miami is better suited for this defense but we dont have a middle linebacker ala london fletcher..

we also dont have but one olb in Dasnsby. Wake is either a 3-4 olb or a 4-3 de
 
I don't see the big deal, Wake and Misi/Taylor have played PLENTY of DE already this year when we have played the 4-2-5 formation..
