Will Billingsley's recent rise from forklift driver to Dolphins signee is the kind of cheesy story line sports movies like Invincible are based on.

Much like Vince Papale, a 30-year-old bartender whose journey to make the 1976 Eagles inspired the movie, this former North Carolina A&T safety also must overcome long odds to make an NFL roster.

But if Billingsley continues to make steady progress, impressing Dolphins coaches and executives like he did in the eye-opening predraft workout that got him signed in early April, one day his fellow factory workers at ABB Incorporated might be able to brag they once worked beside him.

"Been here two days and you're a star?" Dolphins vice president Bill Parcells said with a good-natured needle when he spotted Billingsley doing an interview after Saturday's practice, which featured him turning on the afterburners to bat away a deep pass during 7-on-7 drills. "Keep it up."

I'm hoping he makes the team, that'd be a great story for a team that needs it right now.

Sounds like a cool guy. I like his name. It sounds 'smart'

i hope he can cover randy moss....

A 4.33 on wet grass is lightning. Interesting thing about him is he's already making plays. We've signed fast guys that couldn't play before. We had a few of those last year. You need a little more than speed to turn some heads at practice and get the reporters coming up to interview you. Should be interesting to track the guy.

I think our secondary is going to be much better and our dline will be better . I hope Billingsley becomes the next patrick surtain.

Actually sounds like he should be drinking a cup of hot tea in England brought to him by a butler......here's your tea Mr. Billingsly, would you like a cube of sugar, or perhaps a dash of cream (in my best English butler accent)!

What is interesting about this guy is he was completely overlooked last year. I guess you can never turn over too many stones. Another interesting point from within the story is the pipeline from that part of Indiana this year. These guys were recommended by "experts" in the scouting world, not necessarily tied to the Dolphins. This kid was signed before the draft and the word undrafted free agent was used . That didn't make sense to me at that time, but it does now. He really never got into the football world last year.

This story along with Toribio has gotten my attention. By the way, do any of you guys know anything about Toribio, being that he hails from Miami?
