As far as the new college rules this year I like some hate others.

Pro - Time starts on the ball being set for a first down.
This speeds them game up and this previous rule was the main reason for the long game times.

Undecided - Time starting on the kick off.
This isn't really much of a factor in game time. It is nice late in the game to see the clock not ticking on the kick but for this rule I could really care less either way.

Con - Clock starting on change of postion when ball is set for play.
I hate this. I hate that when a team doesn't even have to run a play to run out the clock late. I hate that late in the game or actually any time that after the kick/change of possesion that the clock runs. It seems wrong and I hope that next year this part of the rule is changed.

Over all I think the new clock rules are ok. The biggest impact is the first down rule. That rule in itself speeds up every game and if they changed the kick and change of position rule the goal of speeding up games would still work. I hate the change of posession rule and hope it is changed. It doesn't come into effect as much as the first down one. Keep the first down rule, It was what was slowing down games. Clock still stops to move chains and gives you some extra time to get set. The kick-off one is really a non factor in most games and if you need an extra 5 seconds to win you might need to play harder in the actual game. I just really hate the start of the clock on change of posession. I just seems wrong.

Your opinions?

Its great for 2 reasons.

1) College games were farrrrrr too long!! They took forever.

2) It gives the "underdog" who has a lead a better chance of winning. Meaning more exciting games in the 4th quarter. Less plays per game helps the "weaker" teams.

horrible. if they wanted to make games shorter, they should've got rid of the clock stopping on first downs, as that actually doesn't make sense.

exactly. its stupid. plain and simple.

New rules will only be around this year and will change back next year. I don't like it and College games are not too long to me.

Ones that bother me are the kickoff one and change of possession.

7 seconds left in the game? Just do a 10 yard pooch kick up in the air, the clock runs out the opposing team gets no return.

30 seconds left in the game, fourth down, a team does a running play, the other team has no timeouts and they have to spike the ball, lose time, and a play

The only rule I wanted to see changed, isn't really a rule, but rather the postseason system.

The only one I'm fine with is starting it after the 1st down has been marked.
The other two are horrible and not very logical. I'm not sure which one is worse, they're just gimmicky.
Regarding the new rules protecting an underdog, they just as easily harm the underdog in a close game by minimizing the chance of a comeback.

What really gets me is that they could have at least implemented a 2 minute warning like the NFL. At least then there would be some semblance of logic. The new rules kill comeback opportunities.

College games did tend to be long, but they made the clock start at the wrong instant. They should just start the clock for every first down like in the NFL instead of change of possesion cus in essence all you are doing is punishing the team that gets the turnover or change of possesion. It just shows how NCAA Football tries hard not to be like the NFL

it's very dumb because lost at the maximum 1 min that not advantage the "underdog" team they hurt in 59 min instead of hurt 60min
i think that serve at anything ^^

Lost in translation

The games were too long as it was. You throw in replay like they did, the NCAA had to do something. These games were going 4+ hours. Nobody wants to sit and watch a football game for that long. No TV network wants to tie up that much of a time slot on one football game.

They were running into the same problem MLB was running into. They just draaaaaged and draged and draged.
