It's people like Porter that I watch NCAA more than when i was a kid. All he cares about his spot light and his big check. Zach Thomas to me was the best Linebacker to ever play. He may of not been the perfect size, fastest, or the most physical, but no one i mean no one played with more heart and was a professional when it came to everything. What you said about Zach was perfect.

Joey Porter's heart was not with the Dolphins last season. It was somewhere else. Maybe with his family? His first season with Cam Cameron didn't produce much. His second with Soarano made him a superstar all over again. His third season was empty and lackluster. Should they cut him? Maybe. If he really wants out, cut him. Let him go. If his heart is in Miami and he wants to rebound in 2010, let him stay. Either way, the Dolphins will be ok. This is just one player at one position.

I think it's more a matter of him already knowing he was on his way out the door, so better to make it look like it was his idea. Kind of like breaking up with the girlfriend before she can cut you loose!

Yup. Its up to everyone to let their own kids know that athletes are not role models, just the winners of the genetic lottery. Some athletes are good people and to be looked up to but not cuz how they play but how they act. Some are just plain dicks at the same ratio as the rest of society...maybe even higher (which is already enormously high) cuz of the extra attention.
