He lacks size for an NFL TE at 6-2, but can he be productive somewhere with his hands? Had this guy been 6-4 or 6-5 he would be a early round pick.

Led all TE in NCAA last year with 15 TDS and ranked 3rd for all receivers in TDs.

Wonder if they'll try him out of the backfield as a short yardage back.

Charles Clay is in a contract year. May as well start grooming a potential replacement in case contract negotiations don't work out.

Good pickup.

Best-case scenario for Hoskins IMO, is Clay. Similar type of player.. He's got wheels, I can tell you that.

Very interesting talent and intrigued for more info.

Practically same size as Aaron Hernandez 6'2 244/245 - great movement and play speed, locates and attacks the ball really well.

For his size - nice 40 time with a low of 4.67, 22 reps at 225lbs but I really like his 3 cone time at 7.22 and broad at 9'08"

Does anyone know any more about this guy - interested to know why he would have dropped?

I went to Marshall and watched every game Gator played in. He has great work ethic and never had off the field issues. He was essentially unstoppable in CUSA. I really believe the only reason he dropped was due to his size and the conference he played in. Marshall also runs a pass happy offense, so maybe he is viewed as a system player. I think most Marshall fans figured he would go late due to his size, but we didn't expect him to go undrafted.

Thanks for that.

Did he ever play in the backfield? - if you remember any games, let me know as I'll go back and watch the tape.

As for System - yep... put him out in space and let him make plays - sounds like a great system to me!! :)

These UFA offensive signings with upside and impressive college accomplishments are certainly nice to optimistically ponder - but I've learned not to get too stoked even part way through camp. Can anyone say '7-11" or "Chad Bumphus"? Personally with guys like these I hope to be pleasantly surprised by expect the worst.

These guys are football players too, but they never got the chance to attend a major school for various reasons. There is talent at that level. I think the Fins scouting department in those small schools has been excellent in recent years. Whomever is running that segment of our scouting staff should be a larger part of our scouting.
Regarding this player, he looks like a excellent prospect. You never know. Bring in as many as possible. He has a shot on this team because Clay is one dimensional, Egnew and Simms have done nothing.
I am not sure about who coaches our TE's, but the lack of production apart from Clay is a concern. the whole onion needs to be peeled back IMHO.

I don't believe he ever ran the ball and after checking stats I see nothing logged. You have to go back to HS to see him running the ball as QB.

I'll have to disagree on that. i think Dan Campbell is the only coach from last year on offense that did a good job. Clay went from a very average back up TE to an HB that even the Pats had to game plan against. Sims may be a slow learner so the verdict is still out on him. Egnew is beyond coaching i'm afraid and needs to be cut without dramatic improvement.

Gator does look like a Clay clone so let's see what he's got.
