For what it's worth.

The Miami front office reportedly is sold on quarterback Ryan Tannehill. Which, on the surface, suggests that the new coach of the Dolphins will be required to feel the same way.
Ultimately, that’s not necessarily the case.
Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the Dolphins won’t insist that the next coach commit to Tannehill, if the next coach determines that Tannehill isn’t the answer. Tannehill’s contract provides considerable flexibility beyond 2016, making it easier to move on if that’s what the next coach believes should happen.
That said, the Dolphins remain confident in Tannehill — and they’re confident the next coach will feel the same way. If the next coach doesn’t, the organization will be prepared to react accordingly.
Still, before dumping Tannehill, the next coach of the Dolphins would be wise to have a viable alternative in place. If the coach doesn’t want Tannehill and gets his way, the coach will be even more accountable if his preferred option fails.

The big problem with this is if we want a one or two year turn Around the key to it may be tannehill and suh restructuring this year which would save 25 million and let us resign OV, lamar, matthews and one big player or a few role guys with that money alone. Question is do you risk having suh and tannehill til 2019 in order to do so.

I don't believe this. Tannenbaum signed him to a big contract and if a HC candidate comes in here and says "Tannehill is one of the main problems; he's got to go", that guy will not get the job. So technically, the new HC will get his choice on Ryan, because they will only hire someone who wants him.

Makes sense. The batch of QB's in 17 is going to be better than this years.

everyone on the team needs to be evaluated. Why would anyone want to hire someone that is pleased with the qb position here, unless they want to be fired?

The next step is getting an offensive system that fits RT and quality QB coaching....then FIX the guard position and find some depth up front.

we sure sacrifice a lot for RT. The same system in college wasn't good enough, so that's weird.

Tannehill has improved every year in the league except for this year. I blame a lot of that on the coaching mess and the garbage interior line play.

So a qb on a regression with a large contract is someone you want to build around? No wonder we have been mediocre since 1993

Improved what tho? His stats?

I honestly feel that Ryan's best years were his first two . . . We just had no offensive talent to put around him. But clearly he was more comfortable in Mike Sherman's offense. I think year three was a lot of smoke and mirrors with that Lazor offense and once the blueprint was out it was a wrap. He had just gotten so stiff and robotic, and you can tell once we went to Taylor on offense, he started feeling a tad bit more comfortable again (Giants game comes to mind) and was moving a bit better.

With Ryan Tannehill all you can do is blame other parts, because in the perfect situation he may elevate his game, but we may all be dead before watching the Dolphins build the perfect Ryan Tannehill team. He needs everything around him suited to him, which to me, makes him a problem at QB.

That said, i do not view him definitely being here in 2016 as a negative . . . but Miami cant be caught with their pants down in case this QB doesn't make gains either. Miami NEEDS to be scouting QB very hard this year.

I am not going there....each of his three years he got better until this year.

You can scout all the QB's you want this year, but it would be a big mistake to take one in RD1. You want a devo guy in the mid rounds? No issue with that. I would let it play out with RT in 2016 and if it fails, look for one of the batch in 2017.

great post. we have to have a plan incase (and it will happen) RT is not on this team next year. Hell, give him some competition, even. But the best scenario, is a coach comes in, and sees his inability to make the big throw and have pocket presence, and replace him. we have had 4 years of looking at him, and he isn't a franchise qb.

this is the quote of the season, my friend. We will waste our times looking for every single piece and let another franchise qb slip by

Lynch is a multiple year project.
Goff is so frail. Can you imagine him taking the hits RT has taken?
Cook...pro style, but he is not ready. And what is with the captainship deal?
Wentz? Got to see him in Mobile.

Not surprised and it's smart because handcuffing a potential head coach would reduce the pool of candidates. All talent needs to be evaluated.

Tannehill has been a 4 year project.
