Ever since we started winning recently... the draft threads have died down... (to the satisfaction of some  )

Well, with our improving record and sliding draft position... Who do you guys think we will be going after now? We should be picking anywhere from 17-20 and wont be able to go after some of the people that have been talked about(like Ngata and Jimmy Williams)

I think we should go after LaRon Landry. Safety out of LSU and former player of Saban. He is a stud and just what our secondary needs. He should be there when we pick. Also, like Daniels, he knows the system. He could contribute much quicker than normal and already has a developed chemistry with Daniels...

What do you guys think?

Sounds good to me. Its a need, a quality player, and a player that already knows the system. Sounds like a perfect pick to me..

Unless Cutler is there, I like Landry as the 1st Round pick.

Really? wow. bold statement... if Jimmy Williams was there when we were picking, I would be thrilled personally...

Would you want Jimmy Williams if he was there?

And if not, would you want Landry?

I say Michael Huff is the one we need. The guy from LSU, the former Saban player would be nice also. I think that the secondary is the first place that we need to address and Saban wants to be younger on defense. I think Huff could be like a Ed Reed or Mike Brown type of player and he could play CB. He can play more than one postition...we need him:D

Are we assuming that Greg Blue, SS Georgia, will be off the board? I would absolutely love to have this guy. And what about Eric Winston LT and Kelly Jennings CB from the U? (I don't know how high Jennings is on most people's draft boards)

I don't think so... especially with the extreme lack of CB talent in this year's draft.

Some other guys besides LaRon Landry that I think we could pick at our currently projected position:

S/CB Michael Huff
OT Eric Winston
OT Jonathan Scott
OT Joe Thomas
OT Marcus McNiel
OT Darryn Colledge
OT Jeremy Trueblood
OLB DeMeco Ryans
OLB Chad Greenway (he's slipping a little bit...)
DT Rod Wright
CB Tye Hill
CB Alan Zemaitis
S Darnell Bing

Not a bad idea but I dont think saftey is our biggest issue. Our corners are terrible and need a change at QB. I would LOVE to see Williams fall that low. He reminds me a lot of D'Angelo Hall, who is a baller.

I think Landry is much better than Blue and clearly is a perfect fit in our system... We know how he can perform in it.

I agree with that. Landry is a stud that could contribute to our secondary for many years to come. Tebucky is a solid player against the run but not as solid against the pass which is where Landry woud come in. I'm excited about the possible amount of talent we could have in the secondary come next year. Poole, Daniels, Mitchell, Madison, and hopefully Landry.

QB QB QB. The only way we even CONSIDER drafting someone of another position in the first round is if there are no projected 1st round QB's left.

well... duh...

If there is a stud QB just sitting there like BradyQ or something... obviously it isnt even a question.

But, there probably wont be a stud sitting there and reaching for a QB is not something I wanna do...

rodrique wright would be a good pick the combo of him and manny could be destructive for many years. but my heart wants a qb i dont know much about cutler but people seem to be high on him

What about Darrell Hackney? Or Omar Jacobs? Not in the first round, but if we aren't able to draft one in the first.

Williams and Landry are looking good for our first pick However, if someone like Jay "MandoIwishhisnamewasn'tJay" Cutler is available, grab 'em.
