New Fox Sports Mock Draft (Round 1 & 2!)

9.Dolphins Amobi Okoye DT Louisville Senior 9th SAME 9th / 32nd The Dolphins defense picked up LB Joey Porter and DB Cameron Worrell, and re-signed a trio of veteran defensive tackles in the off-season, but lost Dan "Big Daddy" Wilkinson. Porter — when he's not getting in slapfests with opponents at blackjack tables in Vegas — will be a valuable addition to the defense, one of the best units in the league in '06. On the offensive side of the ball, where Miami struggled throughout last season — Randy McMichael, Joey Harrington, Bennie Anderson, Darian Barnes, Sammy Morris, Travis Minor, and Wes Welker are gone — with David Martin, a tight end from Green Bay, and fullback Cory Schlesinger now on board. Digest all that? Lots of changes in South Florida. Well, Miami can go a variety of ways, here. Robert Meachem and Dwayne Bowe, as well as Ted Ginn Jr. or Levi Brown could be the choice if the 'Phins want to go with offense, Cam Cameron's specialty. However, I look for Miami to take a gamble and go with the 19-year-old Okoye. A standout at Louisville with arguably the most "upside" in the entire draft, Okoye will learn the game from some of the NFL's best defensive players in Miami. As good as that defense is — Zach Thomas, Porter, Keith Traylor, and Jason Taylor aren't getting any younger. Okoye could be the unit's leader for the next decade.

That doesn't look too bad actually, other than the fact that we have ignored our OL completely in the first two rounds. I am assuming we would be finding a LOT of diamonds in the rough in subsequent rounds on the OL. That also must assume we are ignoring the QB spot again this year in the draft altogether as I don't see us grabbing any QB of starting quality in rounds 3-7.

If we could come away with these picks, and somehow grab Stanton in the 3rd, I would be estatic!!

I got to say one good thing about that draft we may be in position to draft Brian Brohm next year.

I agree, but according to this, he doesn't even make it to our late 2nd round pick, otherwise I'd assume we'd take him there. I'm not sure Cam is that thrilled with Stanton, but you never know. Without knowing who we get in the 3rd + rounds, I'm a little nervous as to this start with no QB and no OL. I can only assume later round picks for the OL, but QB still is a big ?? since I don't think the F/O is sold on Cpep.
 
I dont really like that mock. Im undecided on Okoye at 9, but taking safety with our 40th I dont like at all.
 
I don't like any draft that has us picking defense. I think its time to build our offense. Everyone is saying our defense is getting old and we need to start rebuilding. When is the time to start building our offense?

We need some play makers to score points. The defense we have right now is still top five in the league.
 
First 2 picks defense? Does anyone here actually WATCH the Phins? We need freaking offense!! QB/OL/WR/TE whatever I dont care, just something!
 
Theres really not much impact on the season with those picks. Okoye would be in the rotation and might not even start. Meriweather wont see the field and Gonzalez will be the 4th reciever unless hes able to beat out Hagan. Not a good start to the draft. (D-)
 
I don't know if I would be ecstatic if it shapes out like that, but I wouldn't be disappointed. Would be interesting to see how Okoye pans out.

I could live with that. As long as we don't take Branch over Okoye.
 
Not sure I like Brandon Merriweather or Gonzalez as picks.
