New Front Page Poll: Would we have won a Super Bowl if we signed Brees?

Freshly on the heels of Brees' outstanding Super Bowl MVP performance we Dolphin fans are left to ponder what might have been. What might have been had we signed Drew Brees instead if Daunte Culpepper. Would we have won a Super Bowl?

I don't think so. We are still a few parts away. He would have helped a lot his first few years especially, but I don't know if we could have gotten that far. I do believe that a great qb like him and P. Manning make avg to below avg recievers seem pretty good though.

This is a solid NO. We didn't have quality coaches who'd take him in the right direction IMO. Plus the team wouldn't have helped as NO did with him.

As Peyton, who stayed on the field for all of 15 minutes to slice and dice our D proved, this year, we didn't have the D, WRs or health to make it to the SB, even with a red-hot Brees under center. Last season, IMO would have been our best shot and I do think Brees would have kept Rex from cheating in the playoff game, but I don't think we'd have gotten beyond the Ravens, even with the WC, which in and of itself is moot, since we'd never have had to resort to it if Brees was our QB. So the answer is a resounding "NO"

NO.

If anything this Super Bowl once again proved that defense wins championships. It was the defense whom intercepted Favre at the last minute to go onto win a superbowl and it was that very same defense that intecepted Peyton Manning to, not only prevent the Colts from tying the game, but to give them the extended lead and seal the game.....

Folks, Defense does win championships.

There are PLENTY of people who have thoughts or comments on this subject. If you aren't one that's cool then go post in another thread that you do agree with.

By the way we didn't HAVE the opportunity to sign "every star player in the league". Drew Brees was sitting on our doorstep with a bow on his head. :facepalm: Get over it? Not until that Lombadi Trophy fins its way back to Miami baby! As they say in Animal House:

"Nothing is finished until we say its finished!"

We are fans. We second guess.That's what we do.

NO....we don't have the wide receivers and overall team that the Saints have right now. BUT we would have been better off with Brees over Culpooper...but hindsight is 20/20.

Its not irrelevant to this site because this site is for Dolphin fans. Many Dolphins fans are feeling frustrated that we had the chance to sign him and didn't(as you can tell by the various threads). Since we had him in the leash and let him go so it is relevant.

People need to get over the fact that Brees didn't sign with us. I think it is very irrelevant when the guy almost signed with us 3 years ago. Cool he took the Saints to the Super Bowl. That effects this team how? We are not the Miami Saints. We are the Miami Dolphins. Instead of wishing we had Brees (cus you know, he would have had the EXACT same success here), we need to do something about the guys on the team now.

You just have to respect the long term frustration that exists in the fan base that we have struggled so badly over the last 20 or so years. I think we should recognize that this team has "missed" on a lot of opportunities and players which if they would have made the right choice would have made a big difference.

I agree we need to do something about the teams now. But here is the thing, this is a fan forum and we have the ability to talk about a lot of different subjects all at one time. We can talk about the team now, we can talk about personnel moves, heck we even talk about Dan Marino and also the undefeated team and they were a LONG time ago. Bottom line if it is on the minds of Fin fans it gets talked about here. Even the team logo and fight song get deabted here. That is what a fan forum is about. All things that are Dolphins are fair game. As I said before you can tell from number of threads about Brees, and the now over 300 votes on the poll that this is on the minds of many fans. So this poll is not for you. Its for them. So lay back and enjoy the ride. Not every thread is going to be about something you agree with or care about.

First of all it is 'moot' point not 'mute'

I do not post here much but I have been reading threads here for years now and one thing that has always bothered me is when people get upset about even discussing a topic. I see it here and in the website I go to read up on my favorite baseball team the Orioles. There is always a few people who say we should not be discussing a topic why is that?? Is there a limited amount of work productivity that should be wasted? I might not post often but coming to the defense of that poll is by far a good reason to. Why? Because I have never watched Drew Brees since his signing with the Saints and not thought of what might have been. At the time of the discussion of Brees or Culpepper I remember thinking this will come back to take a serious portion out of our collective *****.

Oh and just for the record I voted yes. I believe if we would have landed Brees it would have changed everything. He is not only an elite QB he is a team and community leader which would have gone a long way. Also I believe once he established himself with us it would have made it easier to bring in a star WR for him to throw to. There would have been a domino effect much like what happened in NO. They were not good at all when they signed Brees. It does not take long to turn things around.
